Aleternative broadband with Sky Landline

Can someone help please I am finding all the broadband options confusing!!! I have just signed up to have Sky TV & Telephone line installed at our new rental house I wanted to add their broadband as well but I was told I needed to wait until the phone line is activated then add their broadband. The set up fee for Sky is quite expensive and I have noticed on this website that Plusnet is free set up and cheaper per month but their website only mentions that you need a BT phone line to have this service. So what I want to know is does my Sky landline which is being installed count can I get any broadband service provider I like with this??

Are you on a Sky LLU exchange?

If so, you can't have Plusnet (or any other broadband provider) except Sky.
Plusnet Value is only £5.99 if you are on a Market 3 exchange, otherwise £11.99.

I thought the set up was free for new customers on Sky.
Mr Mac is correct of course if you are on a Sky LLU landline then you can only have you broadband from them, which will be free/£5/or £10 /month depending on package.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

What does Sky LLU mean? I've looked on samknows.com and done a exchange search and my postcode shows as broadband availabilty ADSL, SDSL & LLU but I haven't a clue what any of this means????

    Local Loop Unbundled.
If Sky is listed as an LLU operator on your exchange by samknows, then most likely your line will be LLU'd to Sky. You'll be able to tell by the price quoted. If LLU, you can get the basic (very basic) Sky broadband for free. If not LLU, the you will be offered sky Connect at a very uncompetitive £17pm.
Bear in mind that once you are on Sky LLU, you are stuck with them for broadband. To change you would first have to take your line rental back to BT on a 12m contract, and only then can you switch broadband providers.
