Have the sheltered accommodation places you've contacted been in the public sector, or local authority run?0

I would think long & hard before she gives up a secure tenancy!! As another poster has stated - try the council exchange lists. And phone the Council about sheltered accommodation......Theres a website online for council exchanges, but I dont know the addy.. Just looked - seems like theres a couple of websites, but there is a free website where you can register for an exchange. Phone your council & verify the correct website address for exchanges0

I have contacted my local council about exchanges, they are on the same site as the vacant ones, but it is a very long shot that theres someone who want s to move from one county to another, from groundfloor to first floor accommodation. All the ones I have seen have been requesting a move within the same town/area.
Didnt know there was a 'national' exchange website, i will have to do some digging..0 -

If you Google "council house exchange" you'll find several useful websites.0 -

Only thing to be aware of with exchanges is that you take it 'as seen'. The council doesn't have to rectify anything which is wrong when you move in. So if the previous tenant doesn't tell you that the loo hasn't flushed properly for 15 years, and you call the council to get it fixed, you may struggle.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Thanks , Ive done that, the ones ive seen have subscription charges, so I'll have to figure out which one is best before signing up to one!0 -
You can also do 3 or more way swaps. I know it gets complicated, but it can be done!

If I suggest a 'three way' to my mum I bet her hair would curl:rotfl:!
Any DIY jobs should not be a problem, OH is very handy (when supervised;))0 -
May I suggest you try Homeswappers - they should be free for your mum to join as she's a council tenant. Most Councils have joined forces with Homeswappers and this allows their tenants to join free of charge.

Thanks but I have just been through the application system and they are not on the system. (it was council housing, but they rebranded it, changed its name, called itself a business unit, then a housing !!!, so I guess they have decided they dont have to register with homeswappers)
Considered joining for 3 months (£8) but the system looks possibly like a continuous payment from the card, it does not tell you how to unsubscribe !?!0
