Moving abroad - take mobile with me?

Hi,
I am unexpectantly moving to France in a couple of weeks, I currently have a mobile contract which I took out a year ago for 24 months obviously at the time not knowing . I fully understand that I agreed to a 24month contract so I have to honour that. I asked the mobile phone company about taking the phone abroad but obviously it becomes expensive and I lose the use of free texts/calls which is fair enough as its outwith the UK. Luckily I have a a farily cheap contract therefore the full buy out price isn't completely ridiculous (approx £200). I've been with the provider for approx 7 years. Do I have any chance of negotiating anything off the buy out cost - I'm not expecting anything but it would be nice
Cheers

Doubt it very much. Phone firms are like Insurance firms, they couldn't give a monkeys and just want your money but it's worth asking. If it is a decent phone you may get some cash for it to put towards the cost.0

You may be able to switch to a lower tariff at some point, might be worth looking into that and whether it works out cheaper to do that and let the contract run, rather than buying out of it.Why pay more than you have to?0

Very good idea! You could also see if someone else will take it on, not sure if T-Mobile let you do that or not but worth a try.0 -
If you don't cancel, and if you'll still be receiving quite a few calls from the UK on that number, you might get one of the global roaming SIMs with free incoming calls, some of which have Isle of Man or Jersey numbers which come from your inclusive minutes but not on all networks, then forward your incoming calls to it0
