Vodafone contract !!!! up

Hi there. I'm new to the site so if i'm being dumb or lazy by not searching i apologize.

I have had a Vodafone contract now for a number of months which i thought was all fine and dandy until about 3 days ago when i received a text from Vodafone. It asked me to contact 191 which it did and when i got through to find out my balance i was shocked to hear that i owe the sum of £264. When emailing customer care to investigate it seems Dial-a-phone, who i got the contract with, cocked up on the payment details and was charging a different person for a contract they didn't have which explains why i have this huge bill now.

The bill has now been passed on to their disconnections team and i will be cut off on the 10th march if i do not pay.

My question is, is this a break in contract by both parties as A. I have not been paying bills and B. Vodafone have not noticed this !!!! up from day one therefore not providing me with the correct service or customer service required??

If the above is the case, where does this leave me in terms of canceling my contract?? am i well within my rights to do so?

I am not saying i'm not willing to pay the contract but i am also not very happy with the circumstances i'm in and will do whatever i can to rectify it.

thanks for all your help

In the months you had the phone, no bills turned up and you never queried that?
At end of day, its your bill being presented to you now .
You might be able to negotiate a payment plan if you cannot pay the full amount in one go.

And if you were that concerned, why didnt you contact Vodafone asking them why they werent taking any payments from you.
  • at the time my vodafone online account was showing all payments being made in full so i had no reason to check my account and i didnt receive any paper bills as i opted out of receiving them

When you took out the account with Vodafone, did you receive a welcome pack with your phone with all your personal and banking details on it. If you did, you should've noticed the mistake then.
  • yes i did thats a good point. i will go and check it now and if there is an error then i will hold my hands up to it all
