Buying Phones From Abroad
Morning
Im in the process of purchasing a new mobile phone and have come across the LG Renoir which i like the look of.
Having scouted about for deals ive come across some on EBay which have taken my interest. The usual price for the phone i around £200 but on Ebay theres many for less than £150...the only problem being there from Hong Kong!
Will these phones work in the UK?
Anyone had any previous experiance in buying phones from abroad?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

I don't know about the particular phone, but read the description carefully.
Whilst most of the phones will certainly be genuine, there are a number of counterfeits of some brands floating around, and others which while not quite totally passing themselves off as the same phone just happen to be the same size and shape with the same model number, though it's clear when reading a bit more it isn't the same, for example some up-market Nokia model numbers are used but the item doesn't actually say Nokia, then you spot that it's dual-SIM and no 3g.
Most of the cases I'm on about the phone is actually much cheaper than the one it's based on, e.g. £90 compared to £250 or more, so it is pretty obvious, so this doesn't sound like that.
If you reassure yourself it's genuine, don't forget that you'll have to pay VAT and an agent fee on import, which would take it most of the way from £150 to £200 anyway.
If that means a saving of say £15 or £20 for waiting a couple of weeks for delivery, personally I wouldn't bother.0 -
