Hello,

I opened a Premier Current Account with Alliance & Leicester in November last year and was very kindly given £100 by A&L. However, I really don’t find A&L very helpful/friendly when I call them.

I was just wondering if anyone knows how long I have to keep my account open with them? If I close it now do I have to give this £100 back? I don’t remember reading any clawback terms in the terms and conditions.

Any help would be great.

I'm happy to say, once you've got their money, you can close the account whenever you like! You won't have to give it back!
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

I escaped virtually as soon as the £100 had been credited to my account, just make sure that you meet the minimum funding requirement until the account has been fully closed.
  • Excellent!!

You have both made my day! :money:

Having been a 'loyal' A&L customer for years, and someone who didn't get any cash from them, I think to receive £100 actually does seem very friendly and helpful.

You seem to be confusing helpfulness and friendliness with marketing ploys to entice new customers.

The £125 that I received certainly didn't endear the incompetent 'shower' that A&L has become since Santander's involvement to me, neither did it induce any feelings of 'loyalty'.

Still, never mind eh. The cash eased the pain.

    Hardly, a £1,000 'analgaesic' wouldn't be enough. ;)

I don't understand how you can be 'loyal' to a bank?!!

Sounds to me that you're a bit jealous that you're not eligible for this £100!

Not at all. Tarting between banks is quite common. But to place it in perspective, A&L have never really had good customer service. This is well known, and hence they offer £100 to those who wish to experience these 'delights'. My point was that your cash will ease this for you. I guess, sometime in the future these kind of payments will be no more, and then loyalty with rewards will mean we stay with banks because we like the service. After all that's what you really wanted, wasn't it?

As for A&L, I disagree with the point that the customer service declined after Santander involvement. It may do in the future.
