Free Thorntons chocolate block

I got mine too and i think it is disgusting that they send it today and give you 2 DAYS to collect it. It's absurd. I'm sure they said they'd send the block by post. Atleast give a few weeks, i won't be able to get to a thorntons in time. :mad:

They are really yummy eggs and I know my daughter will be pleased! I am happy; I guess they didn't have to do anything if the response was overwhelming, bearing in mind that sites like this will result in this happening. Once upon a time a lot fewer people would know about freebies...

I have done really well as I have won Thorntons melts also...got a free egg from previous freebie and now this...happy bunny :rotfl:

Agreed someone on holiday wouldn't even get their email by Friday. They could at least give you Saturday to claim it as well - after all Easter is on Sunday, or they could have made it valid from next Monday, which would have allowed them to get rid of all the left over eggs.

Thorntons do gain from having all the 'friends' email addresses, on average they'll make more than twice as much in profit from sending an email promotion to 500,000 people over 250,000 people. I think I once heard that the value of every additional email address a company gains is around 75p.

Sound's like a con i entered details on the 8/3 the day it was first mentioned so thanks anyway OP. I was looking forward to the choc block coming... not that i really need it as i'm up to my neck in flake's trying to win lippy's. I also don't have a printer so the voucher thing they have sent me is no good and will be deleted thanks Thorntons!:(

Ive just checked and got the same email. I agree that they should have given people more time to collect the free eggs and also wonder how they can say it was too popular. Surely if they knew how many free bars of chocolate they were prepared to give away in return for friends email addresses they should of just closed the offer once that number was reached. Still will print voucher and if Im in town within 2 days will try to collect the free eggs. As a protest everybody can always unsubscribe when they start getting emails from them.

I got it too, I expect we'll get to the shop and they'll be out of eggs.

This voucher thing will advantage them in two ways: 1) they will save the costs of posting out the chocolate and 2) they will get people into their shops where they may be tempted to actually buy Thornton's chocolate products.

I agree they might have at least given people until the end of the weekend, as that is the first opportunity for a lot of working folk to get to the shops.
