I think it is because I was on emergency tax for the first couple of months that I was here last year, whilst I waited for my BSN number (a bit like NI number in the UK).

I've got a trick for ya: start saving £2 coins and your fiance will feel obliged to give you all the ones he's given! It works! Haha. Last night in the pub my fiance was given 3 as change...looked up into my puppy dog eyes and just had to hand them over.Ahem.
Anyhoo.
