Hi all! I'm loving being at home with my baby, but feeling very down about money. I've had to reduce all my payments to survive being on SMP, which means debt is being cleared even slower than ever and i have very little spare. Hey ho. I haven't checked my lotto ticket yet so i could be sitting on a fortuneOne step at a time0

Hi All
Sorry I have been quiet – work has been nightmarishly busy and I spent a large of the weekend either asleep or sprawled on the sofa not wanting to do much.
Sorry for everything I have missed or not mentioned (I am badly behind at reading this thread), but just had to say well done Keza for being Debt Free! :T:T:T:T(I am not jealous….no not at all….and if you believe that you will believe anything!)

Congrats Jazzie!
And I agree about growing impatient. The Virgin CC is now nearly under 1k and will be cleared at end of May using holiday allowance and I can't wait!
Although, am considering paying for a cheap hol for OH and I in early June and taking one or 2 more months to clear the balance (OH will pay his share back to me and it would then go straight to CC). I know it's not exactly MSE, but we've never had a holiday together and are now desparate for one. Plus, we're only talking about a cheap European holiday (Cyprus or Spain) and, I am quite happy to take a little longer to pay off the card.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

Euro, I would go on the holiday if you can get a cheap enough deal. As I've said somewhere before, health and being physically as well as mentally happy is more important than debts. Ok so it will take you another month or two to clear the debts, but its not worth completely denying yourself forever.xBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16

I agree. And, whilst there have been some extreme highs over the last 12-18 months, there have also been some extreme lows and I am now itching for a holiday. Just to sit in the sun and not worry about work, bills, family etc etc for a few days would be fabulous!
OH's secretary mentioned a villa in Spain that she and her husband have rented before. Apparantly, it costs around the same as a hotel, although, we'll see (I'm not convinced and I think this may be based on the fact that they would usually splash out on an expensive hotel). Spain would be nice though as one of OH's friends goes there in the summer with his family and they have a bar there, so he would also be able to spend some time with him.
Otherwise, Cyprus is our choice as neither of us have been there before, and from checking last week, we could get a nice place for around €200-300 each, plus spending money. We might even luck out with a last minute deal.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Always worth a look! It was in March, but my holiday cost £125 including flights and self catering hotel.... saying that, last time I was looking for a cheap holiday we ended up going to the Caribbean for 2 weeks all inclusive. So maybe dont listen to me!:pBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16
