Welcome back TIFTK - How are the kiddies keeping? Im still (trying) to pay off debts but dont seem to be getting anywhere lately :( . Just got in from work today and had a letter from Abbey (Santander) saying they were withdrawing my authorised overdraft from 1st May:eek: Have tried ringing them but dont have a telephone banking no as i NEVER ring them (dont have the patience). I will now have to go into a branch tomorrow to see if they can at least extend it for a few months to give me some leeway as there is no way i can be in credit in 4 weeks time. (Dont fancy my chances either).

Just feel really cheesed off now - seems to be one step forward and two steps back:mad: Sorry for the rant guys on a Friday afternoon :o

They pulled that stunt on me too. They reduced from £1800 to £700. That overdraft is the main reason I am still with them as I don't rate the rest of my banking experience with them. My issues centre mainly around their pathetic, mickey mouse attempts at a business account though.

My od is 1000 quid and even though i am usually close to my limit each month i have never gone over it. Dont suppose it will do any good going into see them but will try anyhow. It says in their very small print that they can withdraw an overdraft at any time. Didnt happen to point that out when i opened the account with them though:mad:

I have to say Mary, personally I would have no qualms about using CB and TC to pay off the CC - especially if its 'lying around'. If your kids were going to go hungry or something then it's another matter, it is child BENEFIT - money to benefit the child. And they will benefit more from debt free parents than parents who pay through the nose in interest every month. Think of all the nice things you could buy for them with them £xx you end up paying in interest to the CC!
To be honest it wouldn't even have crossed my mind that it was a bad thing to use it (maybe because I'm not a parent, I dunno).

I have had a crazy day at work, having issues with some very poor management that all of us in the department are starting to lose patience with now. I've been running round doing the work of someone who gets paid twice as much as me whilst my own classes have to sit and wait because she has rang in 'sick' when I've just seen on FB that she's gone on a weekend away  I've got a splitting headache as well so I've just gone and spent £15 that I can't really afford on a chinese because I can't be arsed to cook.

Sorry for ranting, just a pad of £1 please.

evening guys and girls! sat here on my own again (DH been working away even more than usual...) with a glass of wine and sports relief for company...

mary, i would use the savings and pay the kids back with interest. we have done that a couple of times - the way i see it, as long as they get it back i would rather borrow from them than take out a loan. my kids are still small enough that they don't really even know they have a savings account with halifax - i put a bit in each month, as well as adding birthday/xmas money. i use our CB and small TC payment straight into the normal bills/food/clothes account every month - and they definitely benefit from it. not a month goes by when i don't pay out for swimming lessons/cubs/etc or new shoes/clothes...

just me, of course - i can also understand why some people would never ever even consider doing it! good luck xxx
Mortgage free as of 11/11/15 !

Thanks TomTom,

The TC and CB usually goes on food for DD as she lives on a diet of super noodles, pork pies, sausages and turkey drummers/dino's - all of which aren't cheap so she usually gets about 80% of the cash anyway.

Thinking a bit more about it, I don't have a problem raiding their banks, I've got a problem feeling guilty until the money is safely back with them...they're both far too young to know there's cash there which eases my conscience a little!!

That's 2 votes for and 2 votes against so far...will hang fire and see if a 5th person is willing to break the tie!! :rotfl:

use the money, reduce the debt/ interest, then pay them back. Stop feeling guilty, or worrying you might not be able to do it all at once. You are managing to pay your debts and all this !!!! interest, to the fat cats who dont appreciate the struggle, so you will do it when it is to pay back your children.
Not a big pad today for me, £1 42 to the shrapnel jar please
