Oh Wesker, have a dodgy hug. :grouphug: You must be feeling so sad.
Do you have any other pets or was it just your cat?Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -

So I've just 'the talk' with OH...
It turns out that he's really unhappy with our financial situation and he wants more money to himself. He works all month for nothing blah blah blah...
I don't really know what to make of that considering we've got savings and the cc balances are going down, all the bills are getting paid and there's food in our children's tummy's.
I don't get it! He wants to be able to buy something that he wants and I said that that was how we ended up in debt in the first place...I don't really know where to go from here?Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

Angelic I'm so sorry about your OH probem, must be so stressful & upsetting
Apart from the obvious emotional upset & trauma to you & your children, has he thought through the finances for him leaving? Surely he'd have to pay maintenance, rent/buy a place by himself and pay all bills etc, wonder if he'd end up having as much of his precious money to spend as he thinks

Sorry to hear that angelic, my OH can be very similar in that he wants to spend money on stuff he doesn't need but wants.
His latest is wanting a MacBook Pro even though I'm not working just now and we will be struggling to pay the bills. Don't know what to suggest but hope you can sort something out so you are both happy.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. That's the thing...He wouldn't have any spare would he? He doesn't have anything saved so wouldn't be able to pay a depoit or anything *insert confused smiley*Sorry to hear that angelic, my OH can be very similar in that he wants to spend money on stuff he doesn't need but wants.

I offer to help him out with the things that he needs, not the things he wants. He really needs new shoes and I told him we'd go get some but he keeps saying 'we can't afford it' when he knows we can...*need* always comes before *want* in this house - He doesn't like it. When I was growing up, if we wanted something, we had to wait until our birthday/xmas so I'm really not all that bothered about waiting/saving for something but with him it's I 'needed' it yesterday.Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

I havent been in a situation even remotely close Angelic, but surely his family being fed and kept warm should be more important than some gadget or other that he wants? Couldn't he have talked to you about it and then maybe you could come to some agreement over purchasing it at a later date?
Sorry if I'm stepping out of line, but I think leaving his oh and kids because he can't buy something he wants is pretty childish. And scooby is right, he is unlikely to have any extra money to himself.
I really hope you both come to a conclusion you are happy with xxxxxxxxxxBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

No you're not stepping out of line, it's true.
I'm going to set up a pot that he can help himself to if he wants it, a loose change pot I guess and see if that eases his 'burden' a little bit.
I don't know if he wants to leave, or if he was trying to emotionally blackmail me.Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

Angelic, you seem very calm about the whole thing. Or is that just the image you are projecting?
I'm angry on your behalf!!!! Men are so ridiculous sometimes. Sorry Paul and whoever else is out there.
