cheap eurotunnel tickets ?

Options
Hi,
I am looking for discounted eurotunnel tickets - I have had a quick search and there are a few companies coming up, directferries.com, cheapferrytickets.com etc. Has anyone used these? I am a little wary as they say that there are no tickets involved - they send an email confirmation which is recognised by eurotunnel. I am worried that I will turn up at folkestone at 3 in the morning in August and they just laugh at me.
Any tips gratefully appreciated.
thank you

    Just for interest:

I booked direct with ET on 21/6 for a return crossing starting on 29/8. It cost me £110 full price.

Following your post, I've just done a check on cheapferrytickets for exactly the same journeys. It came out at £121.89.

Whether my booking so long in advance is a factor or not - I would need to input the same dates etc on eurotunnel's website (might do it later) - I don't know, but it doesn't look (on the face of it) as if the bucketshop is cheaper.

A £2.50 Tesco Clubcard points voucher is worth £10 against a Eurotunnel booking and that's what I'm going to be doing in the future! Can't imagine anything being better value than that.

    HTH schiff ;)

PS: Maybe you know this already but ET also operates a no-ticket regime. An e-mail gives you a reference which you have to quote at check-in, together with the credit card used to make the booking.

you may like to use this discount code when booking 004474RIVEURO via eurotunnel site.
  • Eurotunnel now operate a fully automated checkin, where you type in your booking reference (as issued on e-mail/letter) and validate.
Someone walks between the machines should you require assistance.
    Hope this helps!

    :)

Just done the comparison check on Eurotunnel's own website. Comes out at £114, so not a lot different from the figure I paid - and still a way short of cheapferrytickets.

Couldn't find anywhere to input your discount code, chuppachop, but to use it I think we should be told a bit more about its origins, don't you?

My friend works at eurotunnel and its a friends and family code they have threaten to take it off them because not enough people were using it so he gave it to me to pass on to anyone. From memory you enter under promotional codes.

    Hi Chuppachop,

Could you check where that code goes in ? I can't see anywhere to input a promo code on the booking pages. It would be great to get a discount on those fares !

    Cheers,

    D
  • Hi,
Thank you very much for all your replies. I am going to have a go and try the discount code - thank you.
I did a price comparison last night and ET was 276 and directferries.com was coming up at 207. I know I am not travelling at the cheapest times but it will be the most convenient. I will give it another go.
