i got my local fire service to come to my home and do a free safety check. They replaced my existing smoke alarm and fitted a further two, they also gave me a 4 socket extension lead and two power down plugs (the same as the News of the world offer) alond with a Co2 detector. My mum had the same safety check and she also got a deep fat fryer as she had been using a chip pan.

It's so worth doing from a safety point of you and what's best is it's free.

It's not free! The Fire & Rescue Service is regulated by a Fire Authority, and one of the FA's main tasks is to get funding from Local Councils via council tax. So the more people get "freebies" from the FRS, the more your council tax goes up.
