a class c1 is for vehicle between 3.5ton and 7.5t the test will be using a 7.5t truck with a standard 6 speed gearbox. the examiner will ask a few general questions before driving.
at the test station you have to do an emergency stop (v easy 20mph tops)
then reverse into a box marked with cones.
onto the road test part takes 30-45mins including a gear change excersise
the main things to watch are mirrors (make it obvious you move your head)
road positioning and remember HIT 1 KERB and you go home failed.
    good luck

Good luck with the test, and with the new job. Just a thought, but is there no way you could skip into the RRU? Or are you joining from outside the service altogether?

    Hi

I would be joining from outside the service completely  Threre seem to be 2 ways into becomoing a Paramedic - through a University Course or by joining up as a Student Paramedic and training on the job and by joining as a Student Paramedic is the route I want to take.

It would appear that you used to be able to join the NHS as a Care Assistant/Nurse and working your way through the ranks but this seems to be being phased out for the above 2 options.

    Dave

Just read your signature. There appears to be a First Response Group near me !! That could be perfect - I am off to have a read.

Thank you so much. They did say to get some voluntry work under my belt but I had been looking at St Johns but this looks even more perfect.

Whereabouts are you in the UK, because some First Response groups (especially down in England) are a lot more wide ranging in terms of equipment/training etc. You're right that it's good way to get a feel for the work, and it also helps you build up a good working relationship with the crews.
