I got an antique ring, after a male friend of mine got a beautiful one for his fiance. I looked in some antique shops (there's a massive collection of shops near Bond Street in London), but actually ended up getting mine from an antique dealer on ebay. Obviously you have to be careful to get the genuine thing, but I had no troubles. I have small fingers too, so I made sure it could be resized down to my size before we bought it. I then took it to a place in Hatton Garden to be resized, and generally refurbished (I can give anyone the details if they want). It looks amazing now, and I still love it a year later! It's an art deco ring, which I think would be a good period for you - you can get white gold and the shapes are modern (yet you won't see anyone else wearing your ring!). Mine has 3 old cut diamonds which are beautiful and sparkly - I'm sure that they're not fabulous quality (given the price I paid), but they sparkle like crazy and I could never dream of affording anything like it in a normal jewellers.

    Enjoy looking for something!

Don't suppose you have a link/the name of the antique dealer on ebay you got your from? I think I'm defo gonna go antique after what everyone's saying on here, sounds like not only will we get good value for money, but I love the idea of something different and unique. So if anyone has any recommendations please let me know (in the south east or online). Ta, Cat x

right I don't wanna start a new thread so I'm hoping people will still look at this!! I have found a few on ebay but I can't decide if I should go for it or not... OH is very nervous of buying on ebay, I can't resist a bargain though, here's a few, let me know what you think.

    I like the first one.
The second one just doesn't grab me
The third one the picture is naff so you have no idea what you're buying - bit of a gamble
And to me, the forth one is too big - it looks a bit like something you'd get out of one of those 20p machines (sorry!!!! just my opinion, I like dainty)

I'd be more than happy to receive the first one (if I didn't already have mine!)
    Bump due 22nd September

Yeah I agree... I love the first one, it's (to my knowledge) the 2nd time she's listed it..... am debating about emailing her a bit of a silly offer.... what does everyone else think? This is in relation to the first one.

Have a look at her feedback, looks like she is a dealer, have a good look through and see what she sells similar items for. Seems like a very good price already, and I don't think she'd go much lower because of what her other items sell for - having said this, you can but try!!!

  • I like the first one. its similar to mine, although mine doesnt ahve as many prongs. my OH got mine from http://www.diamondmanufacturers.co.uk/
im well chuffed with it - it was far too big so had it resized and was back within 3 days. they also guaruntee the sizeing for life so you can have it altered as many times as you want. They look quite reasonable price wise too :-)

Thanks for this, I went online and have found the perfect ring, my OH loves it, and so do I!! A little over budget at £799 but I've found a 5% discount code if used by the end of the month, and we think we may be able to stretch as it's so perfect!! I'm secretly hoping he'll order it this weekend!! I've looked everywhere else online and can't find anything exactly the same for anywhere near the price!! :j:j:j
