Dla award

I received my dla award today and theyve reduced my care from middle to low,but theyve given me low rate mobility when I wasnt getting any mobility award previous.

Now my question is how will this change affect my other benefits. My wife wont be able to claim carers allowance and I'll lose my carers premiums, but by how much will my incapacity/income support increase by?

Does anyone know as Ive searched for hours and its a minefield out there lol?

It wont, you will lose money the DP at least, I dont claim means tested benefits but someone will give you the figures but you may lose all IS if you recieve any more than basic IB.
  • if you are on i.s then a move from mrc to lrc will cost you, have you considered appealing the decision?

Im on incapacity benefit and they top it up with income support.

When I was awarded middle care and my wife applied for carers allowance I think it worked out we were around 12 quid better off per week claiming the carers allowance as they reduced my ib.So surely now that we cant get ca the ib will be increased?

IB is above IS, DLA means you can claim IB+IS but LRC is absorbed if you recieve an age addition of IB and in most cases you lose all entitlement to IS.

This has confused me even more lol.How can I only be better off by 12 quid or so when I receive the benefit, but now that I cant get Carers allowance Im basically going to lose all my income support etc?

If this is the case Ill appeal the decision.I feel sick to my stomach.

Because the person claiming CA receives a premium of £29.50 too; providing they meet the criteria for IS.

I cant belive you, you are sick to your stomach because you can lose money and not because you have lost your DLA?

Thats not the way you feel when you are disabled, you feel sick to your stomach because they dont believe you.

    What are you talking about?

How can they not beleive me? I cant lie about being diabetic and having acute depression.

Only if your IB is more (or equal to) what the law says you need to live on.
