Pregnancy & the pill

Options
I've been on the pill for 12 years, with a short 6 month break 6 years ago.

I recently forgot to take at least 3 days of my current packet of which I'm a third of the way through it and had sex with my OH last night. We both talked about it and are married and want kids so if I fall pregnant it's no big deal.

I talked to a pharmacy consultant today and he said given the length of time I've been on the pill and how far through the packet I am it's unlikely I'll actually fall pregant.

I just wanted to know, anyone who has kids, if it is even a chance I'll get pregnant as I would like to broach the subject of actually going for it, for real.

If there's not then fair enough but the next 2 or 3 weeks could be hell for me if someone says there is a chance as I would love love love to be pregnant.

Is it right there'd be a slim to no chance at all??

You usually ovulate 14 days after the start of your last period, if you take a week off for your period (like with the microgynon) then yes I think you can be.

Cos you would have 7 days where you are on period (or where you arent taking pill) and then 7 days of taking pill when you ovulate (roughly) then you missed your pill 3 days, so I say yes you could be

Not sayinng you are though lol

after 5 years of constant pill taking it took my sister 4 years to conceive.. the consultant said it can take up to 2 years for your cycles to return to normal after stopping taking any hormone altering contraception regularly over a period of years.

It is unlikely it will have happended this month BUT.. you can always try next month!

I got pregnant twice on the cillest pill without ever missing any so there will be a chance that you could be pregnant after missing 3 of what ever pill you are on. You will only find out though in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed if it is what you want :-)

Hmmm I know what you're saying. I might leave it a week or 2 and may take a test. It might get my hopes up but I guess it's worth it.

My boss said at work even if it's a slim chance that's still a chance.

I recently missed 3 pills and had unprotected sex during this time.

Went to see the FP clinic a day after and they said they were 99% sure I wouldn't fall pregnant but said to take the morning after pill just in case.

I would still bring it up, if you want kids then go for it!

Some say that your fertility drops if you've been on the pill for a long time, but I don't think that's necessarily the case. I was on the pill for 8 years before I stopped taking them to conceive my son - and I was pregnant 4 months after stopping the pill.

So a mixed bag overall and not to get my hopes up. I'll talk to Oh and see what he thinks. Then take it from there.
