Sale of Liberty would be awful, IMHO. The last, original great British retailer, with a long and distinguished history, in a beautiful building.

Shame this thread was hijacked. Obviously no one's interested enough in Liberty any more. Sign of the times, I suppose. :(

Its ok, all our good threads go IT a bit, but its fairly relevant ...high fashion etc.

Liberty is my single favorite department store in the world. But I can barly afford to sneeze in there: which is also a sign of the times!

You are absolutely right and I abjectly apologise.

I walked past Liberty once and it looked v pretty.

It is a bit like Woollies, everyone likes the idea of it but very few actually use it.

Because its just out of reach now. A metre of liberty print in Liberty's costs what now I wonder? I adore the haberdashery dept as much a the fashion/home wears etc...but...its just SO expensive. I love the fashion depts...they seem so much less....gruesome than anywhere else. I really love the basement sales...:o

I want to use it, in a way I wouldn't if it were selfridges or Harrods.

Can I go entirely off topic on the second post?

I have a huge problem. I have bought jodhpurs (purely as a fashion item). Actually I have bought two pairs. I have gone a little mad on the Hobbs sale (thank you FC, I have spent a fortune saving a fortune:cool:).

!!!!!! do you wear on your feet with them?

Riding boots just look ridiculous, I look like I am entering a dressage competition.

    Help.................

Now, now you know the board rules, no unsubstantiated claims. Link to jodhpurs please ;)

Do they not go with the boots you bought?

I bought another pair of boots to go with the jodphurs. They are both repulsive and uncomfortable and are going back.

I had to visit the site of a family tragedy this afternoon and I wore the cream pair with a shirt and sky high gladiator sandals.

I think it worked but then I thought shorts worked until I glimpsed my cellulite:o

By internet magic, from £11.50 with a 5.95 delivery charge (charged once , but you can have multiple items)

A bit pricey, but not extraordinarily so considering its from a posh shop.

Edit: dear ***, I've just looked at the shirts... £175 for one shirt? That makes you look like Noel Edmunds??? Yeah, I don't think I'm going to be shopping there at any point this lifetime.

I'm sure it was more than that years ago :o

The last thing I wanted fro there was a photo album, which I put back when I saw the £495 ticket. honestly,, memories really are worth a lot less than that to me :o

I had a feeling things weren't right as OH got a Liberty print shirt from TK Maxx for £30 recently. A lot of them too....so plain as day there was a cash issue with stock levels.
I have 'feelings' for Liberty as I wangled myself a Saturday job there when I started college aged 20 in '83...I loved wafting around on all the creaky floors etc and worked in the fabric department measuring silks and advising customers how much fabric they needed for a skirt/dress etc....also got loads of swatches for college projects. Handy.
    It smelt amazing too.

When we sold vintage during the 90's, Liberty was very sought after, whether a scarf or wallet.
Total trashing of a heritage brand IMO ...never ever let the men in suits get involved with something iconic like this...they just do not get it...and then send it down the pan.

ETA...I could sort out Liberty...but no one would ask me.
