Warning !Sneaky BT £5 late payers charge! Don't Get Caught out!
"For new bills sent from 1st December 2004, BT started charging customers a £5 late payment charge if payment is not received in full within five calendar days from date of dispatch of the red reminder. The charge will normally appear on your next bill."

Don't know if thisi has been covered but don't get caught out with your BT bill.
Apparently it was in the last Update booklet somewhere that nobody reads but throws out (unless they want to buy something).

Best to pay by direct debt. You will also save £1 for paying by DD.0

I don't see why that's sneaky. If you don't pay on time as agreed then you should be charged. If it was a credit card you'd be paying £20 or more.0

No, nor do I.Fatboy_NSS wrote:I don't see why that's sneaky.
I use a very sneaky way of avoiding such charges. I pay on time.30 years, 217 days!0 -
I pay on time as well bu that iis not the point I'm making. What is sneaky is the way the way this change in Bill terms and conditions was not publicised well by BT. It should have been made clear with Bills and not embedded somewhere in the glossy booklet
British Gas have a prompt payment addition which they add to the next bill if applicable - and it is clearly on the Bill - I await my next BT bill to see if this potential charge is explicitly stated. it's not the charge itself but the typical lack of transparency of BT.

"BT has been accused of slipping in a "stealth price rise" of up to 110 per cent for its telephone customers.
At the moment, BT's more expensive daytime tariff runs between 8am and 6pm. Its cheaper evening rate runs from 6pm to 8am.
From February, it is extending its daytime tariff with calls made between 6am and 8am charged at more expensive daytime rates, rather than evening rates. BT insists that the changes will have a "minor impact on a vast majority of customers".
But independent tariff comparison outfit uSwitch.com reckons that three million punters will end up paying more for phone calls first thing in the morning."0
