:( sorry to hear that, it seems a shame when you were genuinely keen.

Did you get any feedback? If not, you could ring them and ask for some - and in the process mention that you are still keen and would be interested in any future vacancies. Not a guarantee, but might be worth a try as you never know what could happen - if the original candidate disappears on day 3 then you will spring to mind!

Even if you did get feedback already you could still write to let them know your interest. I know some will probably moan about this idea and say it's 'crawling' - but if you genuinely want a job there then it's not, it's the most sensible proactive thing you can do.

    Good luck with your interview

If you want a boots specific answer, aren't they currently having an advertising campaign on the television directed at women? Also look at their website about their history etc.
Then craft something along the lines of you want to work for a company that has the ethos demonstrated in its current advertising campaign that of helping people find the right product for them. Total BS but something along those lines.

    Just a thought.

Interviews always are. Tit for tat really.

OP, nevermind. Only boots, not end of the rainbow stuff.

Everything happens for a reason so let's hope something better comes along.

p.s I rather do a HND in anything than work at 'boots'.

    Im so over it now.

I was a little miffed at first, maybe it was theinitial rejection, like i said my 1st interview in a hell of a lot of years, been self employed for a long time so its not something im used to.

I have a strong feeling i did my usual over confident thing, which a lot of people find threatening. Althought he email did say that i displayed all the qualities they were looking for and my details were being kept on file should another suitable vacancy become available, but i think thats just a standard thing they add on to the end.

I have been toold this before, it makes other employees feel incompetent, which in my eyes is rubbish if they feel inadequate they should try harder at the job.

The knock back set me back a bit today i was adamant that i wasnt going to go for my college interview as i coudnt face 2 rejections in a row, then i thought NO WAY i have spent 6 months and the last 4 weeks slogging my guts out to get my portfolio together - so i have nothing to loose and hopefully my over confidence will actually be valued.

Bloody hell, really thought you were going to get the job. Never mind, eh :(

With regards to the 'overconfident' thing, there may be an element of truth there. Likelihood is that they were looking for a confident person, but also a person who would easily roll over and take some BS from management, put in loads of extra hours, take on extra responsibilities, etc. I've come across this in retail before. In my 3 years of working in a shop, I was walked all over for the first 2 years. I was practically forced to take on extra work (i.e. management responsibilities) for no extra money, whilst people were being hired to do those types of roles, with extra pay, and trained by me!

I tried to put my foot down several times - i.e. requesting that I either receive extra pay for what I was doing, or be awarded the position myself permanently. I was completely capable of doing the job, but felt like I was used as a cheap way of filling in for management, and easing new employees into management roles.

I was fobbed off dozens of times, getting the lecture about budgets, etc. (which stung, considering sales were high and recruitment was still ongoing). Eventually I put my foot down and insisted that I just wouldn't do it anymore. I began to work my contracted hours, and do my contracted job role. It was dicey, as it was around the time the recession kicked off, but I was beyond fed up.

It paid off because I eventually secured a permanent assistant manager's role, with a whopping 40p per hour extra :rotfl:
    £1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50600

HSBC 8% 12mth regular savings = £80 out of a maximum remaining allowance of £2500

    "3 months' salary" reserve = £00 / £3600
