Boots interview - struggling with a reason

I have got an interview with boots on tuesday.
I havent had an interview for about 7 years as im self emloyed but due to the current climate work has almost dried up so i have been looking lesewhere.
I has my clothing sorted, something smart as always.
The assesment on the shop floor doesnt worry me, i have many years retail experience but the ''why do you want to work for boots?'' question does.
Im not sure exctly what to say.
I can hardly say, well i spend half my life in here abusing your glitches and offers so i thought i might as well get paid for being here, or i have bills to pay and your the only people who would give me an interview, or 2 kids in nappies that discount card is gonna come in handy, can I? :rotfl:
Ive been googling facts and figures but i cant find any.
If anyone could point me in the right direction - so i can construct a very cleverly worded and informed answer i would be extremely greatfull.

If you want a boots specific answer, aren't they currently having an advertising campaign on the television directed at women? Also look at their website about their history etc.
Then craft something along the lines of you want to work for a company that has the ethos demonstrated in its current advertising campaign that of helping people find the right product for them. Total BS but something along those lines.
Just a thought.0 -

Have a look on the Boots website to see if they're doing anything of any importance for the environment, community, charities, etc. Boots' good deeds (if any!) would make for a valid reason for wanting to work there, and being proud of what you do. http://www.boots-uk.com/Corporate_Social_Responsibility.aspx
A general interest in health and/or beauty is also likely to help you out. "Big up" Boots' products and what they mean to you, and how important you think they are for consumers (i.e. for me, Boots No. 7 springs to mind. It's good-quality products, at affordable prices).
Anything that refers to Boots' quality as a company, and importance to the consumer, is bound to go down well.
It'll sound awfully corny, but it's what they'll want to hear£1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50/£600
HSBC 8% 12mth regular savings = £80 out of a maximum remaining allowance of £2500
"3 months' salary" reserve = £00 / £3600 :eek:0 -

When asked that question I normally say something about working for a successful/high profile company, that has a good reputation for....
I don't know how well Boots are doing, but if they profits are OK it's worth saying that they can offer better job security.
It's always good to massage managers' egos, but only if they company are doing reasonably well, obviously.0 -
I wouldn't quote any stats or do any research for an answer.
Just say that you are keen to restart your retail career at Boots because it is your favourite shop - you are a very loyal customer and would also make a very loyal employee.0 -
Have a think about what makes working for Boots different to working in any other retailer, and why it appeals to you. If you spend a lot of time in there you obviously feel they have quality products and a friendly atmosphere!
There is also the real health angle, do you know if you will be working in just retail or also on the pharmacy counter? I worked for Boots years ago and I loved it - it's what got me really interested in healthcare. If you are involved with the pharmacy, you could explain why you feel it's important (eg. providing somewhere people can come for health advice, linking with local health services for prescription collection and late night pharmacy services).
I would say something that demonstrates the effort you have put into researching them, if only so they know how keen you are!
Good luck!

I got asked this at my last interview, I actually turned round and said it's because "I want a job!" don't ask me why i said that, Well at least i'm honest!0

I have my interview later, im all dressed ready to go, im feeling super nervous which i didnt think i would, my stomach is doing somersaults, i hope that settles i need to eat some diner to stop my tummy rumbling on the shop floor.
I have no idea what im gonna say when i get asked the question i just hope i dont say something like, i need the cash!!!
I just want the interview to go well, i dont want it to become my worst ever interview where i cringe when i think about what i said or did, after all i still need to shop there every week. So i must be able to hold my head high.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
