As I suspect it's not the CEO's job then with millions of people looking for a job it is one of the most stupid questions that can be asked and puts the candidate in an impossible place. You can gush out a fawning answer or be honest and reply that you are broke and need to eat, pay bills etc. It shows a lack of imagination, integrity and awareness of the financial issues facing millions of people.
As you still have your dignity you are left with no real option but to come up with a suitable answer that demonstrates that all the other candidates are rubbish and that the search is over should the question arise.

    Hope it went well.

    It went fantasically well.

She was smiling and grinning at me and almost winking at me, whilt telling me that i would hear from head office tommorrow. I could see she wanted to say that i had the job but she wasnt allowed to, but she let me know in whatever way she could without actually saying it.

I did 15 minutes on the shop floor, then we went upstairs for a little chat which turened into an hour long chat as neither of us shut up.

So i will be checking my inbox every 5 minutes tommorrow to see for sure, but she did say that is she gets busy she might not have time to ring HO tommorrow, it depends on what crisis arise.

No i didnt even get asked the question or any other work related question the chat was all about me, what i like doing and geneal stuff thats happening in the world, it was the least formal, most brilliant interview i have ever had.

She also told me to be extremely proud of myself for passing the online assesment as she has been trying to help her neice get a job and they keep failing.

She then also told me that i was the 1 and only person to be interviewed for the 2 positions available so i got to pick the best job (well the best job for me).

So thank you all for your help, it is very much appreciated.

You are waiting for a HO HR dept to get their !!!! in gear and do something so don't give up yet. If you have not heard one week after interview then give the person who interviewed you a ring.

Sounds very positive. Years ago i went for an interview there and they made us go on the shop floor and find items, I did this really well to be honest and I had the same feeling about getting the job, alas I never heard anything, unless its changed considerably there HR isnt that great :(

    What a pity!
It's a tough market out there!
I have been unsuccessful at interviews too, but I still managed to progress well in my career, I've often found that when I get turned down it is for a reason, and a better job will turn up!
    Good luck tomorrow!
