I have been a bad moo. A very very bad moo.
I detoured on my way home from the feed merchant to report two escaped ewes and two lambs on a blind bend on a main road to the nearest property to them which just happened to be an animal sanctuary. Whilst there I had a brief guided tour. met two beautiful barn owls, a kestral, several cockerels, a few rams, the odd goat, several dozen rabbits, even more ferrets, an awful lot of cats and several dogs. One of whom was lovely. So lovely in fact that I took her for a walk and the rest as they say is history. OH and DD2 have already been dragged along to meet her and have agreed to take the hound and DD1 to meet her after school. Fingers crossed they all get along. Have promised OH that I will not randomly pop into animal shelters and fall in love with the occupants before returning home to bat my eyelashes at him before talking him into whatever I've fallen in love with. Fortunately I have exquisite taste and he usually agrees.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

I have a friend who laughs at me as when she goes for lunch she buys a sandwich, whereas when I go (sometimes) I come back with new clothes. However, this is a whole new level!@ LBM = £15,872.65, now £10,819.82AF Jan = 7/? Hola All,
Shes not a pup, shes 3 and a half year old Golden Retriever / Samoyed cross and appears to have had some training but according to the rescue centre doesn't do leads or people very well. The dog I took out was initially very shy but v. well behaved, so well behaved in fact that when OH took the DDs to meet her DD2 was able to walk her at heel. Unfortunately it was DD1 holding the lead at the time. She seems to like everybody best of all OH said she had a calming influence on our existing hairball and was able to walk both dogs in one hand without tugging which considering betweeen them they weigh in at around 40KG was probably not that wise a move. Shes scarily underweight but there doesn't seem to be any reason for it. Her coat is matted in places, her pads are a little inflamed but shes been kept on straw for the past five weeks so thats understandable after a walk and her claws are v. overgrown and breaking up but again explained by lack of exercise and the straw. Because OH turned up with a huge healthy geriatric hairy dog (really only a medium sized short haired calm female in fancy dress cos thats what he said I could have last time around) we're being fast tracked. hoping to get the home inspection out of the way today (helps that I already know the inspector as she keeps horses about two miles away and has kids in school), vet was being harassed to do the check up either today or tomorrow and provide references as its the vets we use for our animals. So hopefully she'll be home by Friday which will give her a night here before OH departs for the week.
I'm rather excited. Like a kid in a sweetie shop in fact. Now have to dog proof the house just in case shes a nervous chewer although there wasn't any sign of that in the kennel I'd still rather she didn't decide a Wiimote was edible. Also have to have a stern chat with the hens about teasing her or worse still riding her. Whilst the existing hairball is happy to wander round the garden with a cockerel on her shoulder like a furry pirate with a deformed parrot the newest addition to the family may not be quite as entusiastic.
Now wondering what the heck I've let myself in for. As a super mega plus she paces at whatever speed I'm doing which means I could concievably take her along for a gentle jog, not that I'm capable of such thiings but I have plans involving more excercise which with a 3 1/2 year old I'll get in bucket loads.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Also, this is a Samoyed? If it's crossed with a lab it must be heroically cute! I hope you pass all inspections as the pup sounds lovely!0 -
Mmm the new one looks rather more like this but considerably bigger. I'm thinking hairy Andrex puppy. Existing hairball looks a little more like the pic you posted only more yellow as shes a Samoyed / German Shepherd cross.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
