Applied via Quidco for a Santander account which should net £150 cashback assuming its approved. Hoping its been long enough since I closed the account after taking advantage of the same offer a couple of years ago.
In rather farcical news OH phoned to say the job has indeed been offered to the unqualified teenager with whats rumoured to be a 10K increase on his current salary. Teenager in question has asked for time to consider the offer as hes awaiting the results of other interviews. Some people really don't know when they're well off. The office sweepstake favours the zitty teen turning down the job followed by the boss phoning round all the other candidates who also turn him down simply for taking too long to reach a decision which stinks of being second or even third best. The time delays that this will cause mean that the stress levels over the busiest time of the year will surpass last years explosive office and worsen when another member of staff leaves in as little as six weeks. I get the impression that once he leaves the rest will resign rather than face that level of pressure due to mis management of phenomenal proportions.
On a sensible note if OH leaves the industry and finds a job locally he can take a fair old pay cut to compensate for the vast reduction in fuel expenditure, expecially since the price of diesel has leapt to £1.40. Will have to do some super duper maths to survive on just my wage but its not out of the question, it just won't be pretty and the cost cutting measures inflicted would hit OH hardest.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
ebris.
before vegging on the sofa with OHs DS and completeing Jewel Quest Expeditions in a smidgen over an hour, would be gutted had I spent £20 purchasing it.
Well Moo, you threw me then, I thought to myself ' Moo hasn't mentioned before that her DH has a son from a previous relationship' :rotfl:
Kept reading it and finally it clicked DS = Nintendo DS :rotfl:not dear son :rotfl:

Eeek perish the thought. I can barely cope with the children I've got.
Meanwhile back in wet and windy Welsh Wales its even wetter than normal and riding lessons have been cancelled as the stable yard and stables are flooded and the fields can only be accessed via a raging torrent that didn't exist yesterday. Am making the most of this by getting school out of the way this morning, just need to find the energy to make it out of the door. Think we'll be needing wellies just to get to the car.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
So much for a long lie in. OH clattered into the bedroom illuminating the house as he went claiming the hound from hell had dome a runner from the garden. The same hound that was spotted moments later snoring on DD2s bed. Bah. Failed to get back to sleep so spent an hour attempting to follow the plot of Sebastian Faulks - A Week in December but failing miserably. Its all far too disjointed and leaps about like an over excited toddler after a school trip where they're that excited that they tell you all about the hippos but halfway through the sentence are rambling on about monkeys so that at the end you'd swear the zoo in question was home to a herd of blue bottomed hippos that swing from trees. Its yet another in a long line of woefully awfully books I've attempte lately. Further adventures of a London Call Girl started off well but ran out of steam quite rapidly to become yet another trashy romance sady lacking in plot and the less said about the incredibly dull life of the most boring man on the planet (the star of All He Ever Wanted) the better. May well be splurging on anyone of the Terry Pratchetts missing from my collection in order to reverse the trend. Still at least the unread stash of books is rapidly reducing.
Managed to get the stuff I needed to do at school done by lunch and then ventured into the highly over-rated and scarily overpriced St. Davids Day Market. Declined to pay £4 for cupcakes so that the DDs could have one each. Did sample many jams, pickles, chutneys and marmalades but was horrified at the price tags. Who on earth pays £4 a jar? or gives jam as wedding favours????? Did come away with lots of ideas though and will be experimenting with carrot chutney which was spectacular but tasted nothing like carrots. Left without buying anything but more than made up for it later in Mr Ts where we blew a little under £50 on scarily little. Ended up buying joints of meat as its going to work out considerably cheaper than individual cuts. Hoping that whilst it didn't look a lot in the trolley that theres actually enough food to see us through the next week.
Planning to spend the morning doing housey things and the afternoon gardening before commencing trashing the kitchen with endless amounts of baking and jelly making for next weeks school snacks and lunch boxes. Also have to come up with something vaguely akin to welsh national dress by Tuesday and book characters for the following week when no doubt v. overpriced books will be on sale too. Oh joy!Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Was most disappointed that the last time I was there the lady who makes the organic flavoured vodka wasn't there. Nothing quite like getting tiddly at 10am on a Saturday to spice up the weekend

Mmm thats precisely why I like the local country fayres so much although I did come whisky falvoured things a wee while ago and declined to sample them, just couldn't bring myself to do it.... most bizarre!
Think the nicest thing I've ever tried was Blackcurrant and Apple Brandy although I did have to try rather a lot of it to make my mind up and then went on to sample the rest of their range so OH ended up driving home which is a v. common occurance at these things.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Its raining so I'm surfing for carrot chutney recipes and rather by accident I came across a pickles and preserves blog which v. helpfully sorts its recipes by season and apparently its the perfect season for making Rhubarb Vodka... who'd a thought it? Shame my rhubarb is barely 3" tall at the mo.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

You OH's work sounds a complete nightmare. Why on earth would a boss, choose to hire someone who is unqualified at the work, rather than a qualified person. It can't be the money if they are offering him a 10k pay rise. some managers just don't get it at all do they.
Well done on knowing that you could manage on your salary, but I don't envy you explaining to OH just how his life will be impacted if he did quit....
thanks for sharing about your DD. As you say secondary school will be interesting.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
