Howdens Kitchen quote

I had a quote for about ten units, the tenby with wooden work tops for £2,000 but only because I got a similar quote emailed to me from Magnet Trade and then emailed it to Howdens and they had to match it.
Their original quote was £2,200 with laminate, so i got a lot off.
The best thing to do, is email Magnet trade with your requirements asking for a price for cash. Then email it to Howdens and ask them to match or beat it. You may have to wait until the end of the month, for when they need to meet sales targets.0 -
finally got my quote from Howdens for a 13 unit Haworth white kitchen including integrated dishwasher, sink , taps and 2 plinth drawers, handles & worktops. Final figure was £5415 inc vat. Individual discount varied from 55 - 89%
Won't be using them after taking this long to come back to me, took two weeks to send an amended plan, 2 1/2 weeks for a price and, they left the lights and a glass cabinet off three quotes despite me reminding them every time that I wanted these units.
Found a local independent that can supply a similar quality full oak kitchen for £4900 plus fitting & appliances - I'll probably go with this one.0 -
Hi. I work for Howdens and I can tell you as a moneysaver on the inside that we are not allowed to give anyone who isn't a builder/joiner any prices. We're not B&Q. We're trade only and we are only allowed to give prices to tradesmen.
As for not taking any of your suggestions, yes your designer is a prat. Sorry about that.
And even if you do get hold of our price list, they only contain moderate discounts and don't reflect the true discount we give to tradesmen. We do this in case 'retail' customers i.e the end user not the builder get hold of them.
In an interesting note, Magnet Trade has to follow the same rules as we do. So they've been naughty.0 -
Hi Widgery
You might regret admitting that, we'll probably all have lots of questions for you now!!
We've seen a kitchen we like in Homebase, but have no idea how much it will cost really, since their pricing isn't clear at all, and no prices for online ordering either.
If we chose a Stornoway kitchen from Howden's, based on the example it is £2135.90 on the price list. Does that really mean then that it will be discounted by around 70%? We do need a bit more units than the example, but it gives us a starting point. Then presumably we just need the worktop, sink, tap and appliances, and any necessary end panels etc (might not need end panels if we choose white?). My friend said Howden's is very expensive, I can't imagine then how it cost her £4k! Maybe she's exaggerating or has forgotten?0
