Netto Cheap as Chips but Manners Cost Nothing

Everyone is very polite in Waitrose:D But boy, do you notice the difference on your bill:eek:0

Lidl & Aldi - at least the ones I have tried - are usually ok for politeness, and as far as cleanliness goes, Aldi is very good, Lidl nearly as good.
But Netto......
I have been to 2 branches of Netto, both of which either do not employ cleaners, or if they do they are of the same calibre as the other staff.
I don't know whether it is essential to have bad manners and a very low IQ to work there, or whether being there just drives you to appear that way. Also, despite there being a number of tills there is never more than 1 open - at least when I've been there. Maybe they see me coming? I don't know! Mind you, I have got some bargains in there occasionally, but it's not one of the shops I go to on a regular basis - mainly because they types of bargains they advertise are usually either household goods, or if they are food they are generally prepackaged /convenience stuff I tend not to buy anyway.
Oh, one more thing - their fruit & veg always looks rather tired (perhaps suffering from the same syndrome as the staff???)
It may just be the branches local to me that are a bit ropey, but they have not inspired me to get excited about shopping there!0 -
I hate bad manners anywhere, being polite costs nothing..........We occasionally use Aldi and the staff in there are fine, but those in our local Tesco can be a bit iffy.....one in particular, so I try to aviod her. I did have a run in with her once over the 'if there are more than 2 waiting we will open another till' policy, she said that Tesco did not have that policy, so I asked to see the duty manager........ he confirmed what I had said there had been an advert on TV the night before stating their queueing policy.... BOOM BOOM!!!!!! Her face was a picture and she had to go and open up a till to serve me and a load of other customers...................HE HE........

I admit to blowing my top in Lidls a few months back - to the extent that the queue behind clapped!
I was cought in a "This till is closing please use No4" - having waited for some time to be served.
So that was it!!!!!!!!!!! "Are you running this shop for your convenience or mine"? at full volume roared out down the queue! ( I even surprised myself) They said again that the till was closing and they were off on a break, so I said "Well you can stuff this lot back on the shelves then - I'm off" and made to leave - They served me, the queue clapped and there was alot of well dones and "you tell them"
Service has improved since...The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
there is no Netto where I live so I can't comment on that, but there is a Lidl and the staff are not pleasant, mostly don't speak much English, and there is only ever one checkout open with a big queue at it. Have also had the lecture about not packing my bags whilst the items are being scanned, and was on the receiving end of a particulary harsh lecture when I mistakenly thought that they would accept a cheque. A simple 'sorry, we don't accept cheques' would have been sufficient...
Really need to take a few deep breaths and think of the bargains before entering the place.......(oh, and a considerable proportion of the customers have personal hygiene issues, and are of the type who think nothing of coughing their phlegm (presumably from the 60 a day habit that gives them their peculiar sweat'n'fags aroma) over the fruit and veg. Nice.)0 -
I shop in my local Lidl regularly and am happy with the set up there. I've never encountered any rudeness from staff or other customers. Nobody smells offensive either. Mainly I think it tends to be older people, and other moneysavers, that shop there.
Our local Aldi is also fine. Both stores very clean. The checkout process can be slow sometimes, but on balance the bargains make up for it. Also Lidl are very good if you need to return something faulty, no quibbles at all, providing you keep your receipt they just give you a replacement or refund.
There is a Netto in town. I've been in it once, I found it very dirty and it put me off going there again. I may try it again at some point though.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
we have an aldi opening thurs do you need a pound for the trolley or is that just lidl?0
-
Pound required for both - but what about getting one of those keyrings with the token on? Then you've always got one with you - and they only cost about £1 to buy anyway.0

Hello
Luckily my local netto seems ok, dont go very often and theres only a couple of people in there when I do.
But I know what you mean, when I lived near Southend I refused to go into the Wilkinsons there, I know they had bargains but some of the customers used to scare me. I would only go in if my OH was with me. Dont get me wrong im not a wuss and would normally stand up for myself but wouldnt dare in there . The staff were very nice though. Now I use a completly different wilkos and have no problem at all.0 -
I prefer Netto to Aldi or Lidl, but in all 3 shops it winds me up how fast they scan things then want you to lug everything to one side then pack it. What's the point in that? I'm not handling stuff more than I have to so they have to wait for me
I never pay till I've packed my shopping anyway, be it Tesco's, Morrisons or anywhere else
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
