Has the brake pad warning light come on? They may just be after the work! Years ago discs hardly wear, just the pads. These days disc do wear more due to softer metal used to improve braking. Peer though the wheels and see if you can see a "lip" round the edges of the disc. This will tell you how much the disc has worn. Its is likely after 30k the front discs MAY be worn but it depends on the driver. Some drivers can get 100k out of a set of pads, others 3k so mileage is NOT an indication when they need changing. Just be aware conning people (mainly good looking girls with flashy cars) into new discs is big business.0

I retract the love though I appreciate the gesture
Its just BMW do three levels on there Service Inclusive Package (same as TLC) - the higher one included brakes, so might be worth while asking the supplying BMW dealer what TLC pack it came with.0 -

Whether you need discs as well depends upon how worn the discs are. You (the garage) should be able to visually inspect them and if necessary measure the thickness. If they are in tollerance then no problem, just fit new pads, if not fits discs.
Have you considered taking it to a mini specialist rather than a local garage or BMW?I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling

I would be very surprised if the disks had worn out at less that 30K miles. Most likely its just the pads need changing. I would be highly suspicious if anyone tells you the disks need doing too - if they do say that make sure they really do need replacing.0

It's more common than you think for discs to need replacing.
My 52 plate Celica needed new discs and pads all round when it was around 30k miles.
Long gentle braking heats up the pads and discs to a point where the pads become "glazed". Next time you brake, the glazed pads rub on the disc and because they're now glazed they're very very hard (and brittle I expect). The extra hardness of the pads wears the discs quicker than normal.
So it doesn't necessarily mean a high mileage or a dodgy garage if your discs need replaced at 30k miles.
Mine Celica was diagnosed by my brother in law mechanic and I could see/feel the lip for myself.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0
