Electric for Sports club help

Hi,

I am on the committee of a sports club and we are looking at ways we can reduce are electric bill.

At the moment we are on a business tariff does anyone know if we can change to something cheaper or if there are any sports/social tarrif's around ?

Or maybe ways of getting refunds due to us being a community group ?

Hope someone can help.

hi, welcome to the forum, what type of heating system is installed, gas, oil or electric?
There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't! ;)

    What activities do you cover?

1 If you are a registered charity then you may well qualify for paying 5% VAT on your energy bills.

2 There may be some funding in your locality available for the general running of sports clubs, especially if you cater for young people, disabled or ethnic minorities. Contact your County Community Foundation, or your local CVS for advice.
  • Before you do anything you will need to speak to your current supplier. Most business users are on fixed term contracts which can last for up to 5 years then automatically renew if the correct termination notice isn't given so you need to find out what you are already committed to first.

If you agree a contract with another supplier without checking you could find yourself in a situation where the new supplier hits you with a fee for breach of contract if the old supplier doesn't release you or if the new supplier does get the supply while you were still under contract, the old supplier could charge you a termination fee for breaching their contract.

Business energy supply is a bit of a minefield as there is virtually no statutory protection for business users so you need to make sure you have all the relevant information before you make any decisions.
