Not great news for those who used their cashcard to withdraw cash abroad which will no longer be allowed. For them it is more a case of cashcard minus.

Is this the case for all basic account holders? or has she simply been upgraded to a current account?

    Thanks

The letter she got implies that it's not an upgrade but a change to all cashcard account holders. Good news for most account holders that couldn't get much more than a basic account , not so good news for cheapskate well off people who like to pennypinch while on expensive holidays.

See i have an account with them and im not sure what it was as i havent used it in several years.

I had this horrible blue and red card but im not sure if it had flexaccount on it. See i couldnt get a current account so my question is do they have a basic flexaccount and a cashcard account? or just one of them??

    Thanks

Finally Nationwide is going to provide debit cards on their basic bank accounts, just like other banks. They have realised that lots of people use cards to make payments these days.

I think they will change their mind to allow cash withdrawals overseas in the future. I wonder why they won't allow withdrawal of money overseas.

I don't think the cash builder account card will have a debit card function.

They are a pinky sort of purple colour (not really sure how to explain it!). Cashbuilder cards are a darker purple. InvestDirect cards are gold and Smart cards are silver.

It sounds as though they are trying to prevent people opening a cash card account just for use in ATMs abroad, especially now their Visa card charges for withdrawals outside Europe.

They were a red wine colour.

Now basic accounts with a debit card... I can see Faster Payments for 07-44-56 and 07-01-16 sort codes on the horizon, only 2 years late.
