I bought a sony ericsson w800i phone on contract from Orange from my card. It has broken, when i switch on, it just doesn't switch on. I need to fix it, but i lost my receipt.(proof of purchase). Orange wants the receipt to send it for repairs and so does sony ericsson, does anyone know what to do. I don't want to pay for it to fix it, as it is still under warranty. Please help.

First of all, are you sure that it is actually broken? I have a Sony Ericsson which refused to switch on once, and after removing the battery for a few minutes and then re-assembling it then worked fine. Worth a try if you haven't already as they can sometimes get locked up.

you dont need a receipt if you take it to a repair center as they can check the warrenty from the barcode under the battery

when i take to the cpw they sometimes ask for the receipt but i just say i cant find it or i got it 2nd hand and they usually relent.
there is no reason they should need it as they know its still in warrenty?
i usually use crc myself though as they are nearby. but you can send it to them if you see there web site
