I used my till SPIT for cadburys snaps today - 35 points. They were priced at 2 for £2.00 so I got the two so that DD1 and DD2 can take them to Guide camp to eat around the camp fires.

No till SPITS for me today

If any assistants get caught doing this they will get sacked as it is classed as theft. It is the same if they add clubcard points to their own card(not discount obviously) even if the customer says they can have them. I know of 2 people that have been sacked because of this.

Because of your knowledge of the tills as a cashier/checkout operator, I PMed you the other day, about something a few of us(including Coupon-mad, Welshy and a few more experienced posters) had been trying to find out about.

It was the button on the till that either allows acceptance of coupons, or totals the transaction......can you shed any light on this please.

And to keep this post slightly on topic, do you have any info on why there seems to be no pattern to when, which, how, and why till spits are so difficult to predict.

I had a till spill for 400 points for Olay regenerist/total defence well I figured it would be mega pricey,

However, the Olay Regenerist cleanser daily thermal skin polisher was £5.78 so a good price for the product as that means £16.00 in deals when converted and I didn't pay full price for the product as I used some tesco toiletry vouchers to get it even cheaper.

countingthepennys may be interested in this, as we have both not had any till-spits for a lonng long time:

I phoned up Dundee the other day about my marketing options. This was after I had already checked on the website that the 3 qs under 'contact preferences' were all set to allow contact (they were, so I thought there must be more to this...).

Anyhoo, my card is a newish one (no till-spits ever so far) and the girl said 'oh, your demographics have not been set at all' (?) so she proceded to set them as 'yes yes yes' to everything marketing-wise.

I may well regret that as it includes Market Research, but I wanted my options to be 'all-systems-go' IYSWIM! But it shows that you need to phone Dundee (tel no on back of Clubcard) not just look at your contact preferences.

So I am hopefully now 'pre-till-spit' (next week I will let you know if it's worked), fingers crossed.

Thanks CM yes i may well do that!Hope it works out ok, as for DH well he wont be bothered im the secretary in this house:rotfl: He doesnt like phoning anywhere!

to be honest, none of us really know, as like I said there are staff that don't ever get any till spits.

I imagine it would only be the actual clubcard people that may know, although it does sometimes be related to things you actually buy ie computer games, crisps, kitchen roll etc.

The ones I have seen come out today have been for tea, crisps/nuts and diy products.

Thanks for the answer to the second part of my question,

I was hoping for(and i expect a few others were as well) a possible answer to the first part re "the button".

I realise you have answered this on another thread, but all posters may not read all threads.

The only button that would stop a coupon/voucher going through is the total button. Some coupons ie double points, will scan at any time but others will only scan after the total button has been pushed. There is NO other 'magic' button on the till.HTH
By the way diy till spits go through if you have bought gardening stuff instead.
