And how naive you are.0 -
First thing we did when we moved into the house we bought(and have now sold) 4 years ago was to have a new front door put on as the old UPVC door had yellowed..so problem solved..
I would definitely recommend changing the locks..as others have said..you dont know who has a key..
we rent the house we live in at the moment..and I had the shock of my life to find a teenage lad letting himself in the front door the other week..quite frightening as Im heavily pregnant...he "claimed" that he had no idea that the previous ten ants had moved out..but did hand the key over......I suddenly realised that there was no telling who the previous tenants teen son had given keys to (as he was known for having wild parties etc when his mum was away) so we got straight onto the letting agents who arranged to have all the locks changed0 -
i have never changed any locks and had no problems however i have always installed my own alarm,,,,as the houses were not alarmed that i have bought old or new....0

Didn't change the locks at my last house - three weeks after moving in I had some drunk bloke trying to get in the front door at 9pm saying he lived there and to let him in, he went after about an hour. Was terrified all night that he might have a key, and changed the lock next morning.
Automatically changed them the day after completion on my current house. No matter how 'nice' the previous owners are, you don't know what their friends & family, or ex's, are like0 -
£50 to change your locks to guard against someone having a key from the previous owners you never knew....... A no-brainer.My posts are just my opinions and are not offered as legal advice - though I consider them darn fine opinions none the less.:cool2:
My bad spelling...well I rush type these opinions on my own time, so sorry, but they are free.:o0 -

An alarm is a sensible precaution but it wouldn't help in the situation kaliedascope described in the post just above yours, would it?
I'm not into the hysterical worrying over what might have happened scene, but just because you haven't had a problem in the past doesn't mean you might not in the future. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

If you do decide to though it should just be a case of a simple barrel change and will not cost too much. Hope this helps.
I've never changed locks.
I've never kept keys to houses I've sold either.0 -
