Can you help? Does anyone have any recommendations for a good pregnancy, baby guide / book? I have looked on Amazon but there is just so many to choose from.
Thanks

For me the only pregnancy and baby books worth having are the 'what to expect' books, they are clear, non-judgmental with facts and lots of questions and answers which pretty much cover everything you need to know.
I always buy pregnant fiends it and they always rave about it.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
I have the "Ready Steady Baby" one which is distributed by the midwives in Scotland. It's all online at the above link.
I also got "The Best Friend's Guide to Pregnancy" on the advice of a colleague. It's fine, a bit Americanised but has footnotes for us in the UK. It's quite light-hearted and I did find myself having a bit of a giggle/nod along to it.0 -
Anything by Dr Sears - I had the Birth Book to prepare for my babies. His website is really useful too.0

I have this one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Your-Baby-Month-Expect-Birth/dp/1405318082/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1267795034&sr=8-1
It's really easy to read and informative and broken down into sections so that you can read each bit just before your baby reaches that stage.
I have reccommended it to a colleague who is also really pleased with itMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
http://www.babycentre.co.uk is an invaluable website for me, they also do week by week emails.
For after birth I had (and am revising from!) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Baby-Book-How-Enjoy-Year/dp/0745952135/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1267798404&sr=8-1 by Rachel Waddilove and also http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jo-Frosts-Confident-Baby-Care/dp/0752888552/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1267798433&sr=1-4 by Jo Frost (although I think she has revised it since).
Although I have the books I did drive myself crazy though trying to follow every instruction in both books instead of enjoying my baby, so I would advise use the books as a guide and for information, but also use your instincts and don't try and follow them to the letter!!I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.0 -
what to expect when you are expecting all the way! TBH tho if you use website like 'bounty' the majority of the info is on there, you also get weekly updates regarding development of your body and baby! Plus, they have a fab support forum as well.0

This is the best ever!
The Baby Book: Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby from Birth to Age Two

Another vote for the "What to expect..." series.0

I'm finding Your Pregnancy Bible very useful. It has lots of straightforward, direct advice, with info on what your body goes through during pregnancy (and how your baby develops week by week), with bits on looking after yourself, exercise, diet, health, labour and an early guide to looking after your baby.0

I had Miriam Stoppard's classic Conception, Pregnancy and Birth. Very informative, lots of detail and in stages of baby growth.

I agree -the books are a minefield, so many to choose from!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
