Advice needed. Do I bother over £4.50?

Just looking for some opinions really.

I saw some tongue bars on ebay a few weeks back stated as 15mm, I thought you could only get 14mm and 16mm so I emailed the seller asking if they were indeed 15mm and not a mistake in the listing, as I'd been looking for some for a while. Also asked what size tops the barbells came with (I was looking for 5mm). She replied immediately saying they were indeed 15mm with 5mm tops. She then emailed me a pic of the ones she had and set up the auction with the ones I'd chosen, emailed me the link, I used the buy it now and paid right away.

When I received them two days later they were 14mm with 6mm tops. I emailed her right away saying they aren't as stated and could I have a refund. I got no reply, emailed again a few days later, still yet to get a reply.

Now was this a higher priced item I wouldn't hesitate but with it only being £4.50 I don't know if it's worth it.

I'm only really annoyed because she clearly just lied to me to get the sale.

So do I just let it go because it's only 4 quid or do I do a charge back and neg her on the principle of it?

Thanks
Sigless

Described the item wrong and you have given her adequate chance to responsed. Perhaps send another email to give her a last chance. If she doesn't file a dispute and ultimately neg feedback.

After my total mess with a mis-described item I had sold, I would offer a point of view from a sellers opinion.

Neg her, start a dispute and be sure to point out that you did all you could to ensure her time and money wasnt wasted.

When it happened to me i shat myself and did a deal with the buyer, I received a positive off her today.

Of course if she is lying an a hospital bed after a severe car accident and therefore couldnt reply you will feel like a git !!

Thanks for the advice. I'll send one more email then go ahead with the dispute.

Hi, you spent your time emailing etc and it may be only £4.50 but when you are searching on ebay you look for an item that is the best price and what you want! (best value for money) so why shouldn't you complain! It is your £4.50!

As she had personnally replied to your email I would be very annoyed that she sent the wrong one! - or hasn't even got it! which she may have just told you that to get a sale! I would start a claim immediately as you have given her ample explaining or even replying time - you can always cancel a claim once you are satisfied!! - it may even get her rs in gear! - show you mean business! she can't ignore that!

p.s. .... you got your tongue pierced .....:p

Hi - what you have to think is that it may only be £4.50 to you, but if she has done this 10 times, then it's £45.00 to her.....

Do as advised - email her ONCE more, then if no luck, get your money back (by Paypal) & file as item not described & leave neg feedback...

Its the principle of the issue here not the money. She has lied to you with the correct measurements and that is totally not on. Do what it takes to get a refund, be nice with the emails at first etc...if no luck go through with a Paypal chargeback. Also a small note about the Neg feedback, if she has not let you any let be very careful as she would be likley to respond with hers and give you a neg too.

I sent another email last night stating that if I didn't get a reply within a few days I'd contact paypal. Got a reply today but she insists they are the right size but will give a refund minus postage (postage was £2 even though they were just put in a normal envelope with a 2nd class stamp on). As I said, I'm only annoyed because she blatantly lied about the item, either that or she has no idea what she's selling.

She already left me feedback, had done so before I got the item.

    Thanks again for the replies.

I would go with the 'on principle' arguement too...

I would certainly do a dispute - its the principle of the matter! When you win the dispute she would then have to refund you anyway - including postage!
