Hi LittleBottle, he loves his water fountain and took to it straight away! It keeps the water cool and flowing and it holds more so that you don't have to refill it for a couple of days. Just clean it out and then refill it, plug it in and there you go! He doesn't play in it much, I know some cats that do but mine might drop a toy in it for a laugh :rotfl:He still likes to drink from the bath tap but when i am away I can't do that so it's reassuring for me that he has it. I make sure that I leave a second bowl of water in another room just in case :)
As I have the food timer too he get's his wet food as he usually does as you can set a different time for each food tray to open. If you don't have one and just put dry food down then it's even more important that they have a clean fresh water supply in at least a couple of rooms. Cat's can dehaydrate quite quickly.

To add my "bit"; I have 2 cats (9 months and 6 months) and although I try not to leave them without having someone pop in twice a day there have been a couple of times where they have been left for about 30 hours. The RSPCA would not be concerned unless, as someone else said, the cat didn't have access to food and more importantly water. It takes much more than 30 hours to starve a healthy, well-fed cat. They only intervene if the animal is in serious danger.
Mine only have dry food anyway but I would worry about putting just tinned out for that length of time as it doesn't take long to get rank. Might be worth investing in a timer bowl. Mine also have two large litter trays in the basement.
Having said all that, one of mine has woken up poorly today and has been put on anti-biotics so our plan to leave them Sunday night for approx 20 hours might have been scuppered - not sure I'd leave an unwell cat unattended!
By the way, 7 month old kittens sleep about 17 hours per 24 so I wouldn't worry. Get a cat gym thing for it to play with safely and it probably won;t care.

I used to leave my two for the weekend, if we went away Friday and came back Monday and they were always fine. They had a catflap and could come and go as they please. I could have got someone to look in on them, but there would not have been much point as they would have run outside if a stranger came in the front door.

One time we went away for a week (well mon - fri) and I arranged for a friend to come in and feed them but he forgot  luckily I had put loads of food down "just in case".

I only have one now and as she has a litter tray and doesn't tend to go out much, I arrange for someone to come in and empty it out once a day.

I've had to leave Suki overnight a fair few times - never had any problems with her apart from the usual wrath of furball sulk fest since I dared to remove the cuddle dispensing facilities from the house for more than the hour she's prepared to let me out of her sight. From the appearance of the house she spent the time with a hectic schedule of "rearrange the humans' sofa throws into a nice cat, shaped nest" followed by, "sleep over here", "sleep over here" and "go for the world's largest poo and dig to Australia attempt". So, a typical day's activity really.
