It's basically helping you with CVs, interviews, application forms, and stuff like that.0

How long have you been unemployed and what's your proposed alternative to secure employment if you have doubts about the effectiveness of the YMCA course, then?0

Go with an open mind.
If you have been unemployed a long time then you need all the help you can get.
Those people that moan about it and set up petitions are usually annoyed they had to do something other than "sign on" for "their" money.

So how long have you been unemployed and what is your strategy for gaining an extremely competitive and rare place in your chosen profession, given your reservations about the YMCA course?
If they can't help facilitate your career objectives, what are you doing to gain a foothold and how long will you pursue it before considering an alternative role?0 -

Nope. I understand your reservations - anyone reading lots of negative reviews about the scheme would be put off.
What I want to understand is your actual personal strategy to find your dream role, given your worries that this YMCA course won't get you any closer to it as you are explicit that the course isn't suitable for you.
Assuming that you've finished a college or Uni course in your field, within a year of completing it, you then face additional competition from those finishing similar courses.
So what are your plans to secure the position and at what point will you consider broadening your focus? I assume that compulsory courses like this that are the conditions of claiming JSA will continue the longer you claim.0 -

I'm not positive, either, but its a small condition of claiming benefits and I assume that this kicked in automatically because you've been on JSA for 6 months? I could be wrong on the duration, please correct me.
I'm not that familiar with the steps involved but did a bit of research and it seems your future options if unemployment continues could include
A subsidised job placement. The subsidy is £60 per week, and lasts 6 months; a £750 training allowance is also available to participants. Clients are paid a wage from the employer.
• Full-time education and training, for up to 12 months.
• Work in the voluntary sector, the client is paid JSA plus a £15 training allowance.
• Work with the Environmental Task Force
In light of this, what's your plan B and preferred options from the four above if you don't find a role in your preferred industry in the near future?0
