Have you an Italian link as your name imply's that?

No Italian link. I'm an absolutely rabid Ferrari F1 fan. Their mad fans are called the tifosi and I liked the name as it is suitably obscure if you aren't Ferrari mad and know about the tifosi. I'm 1/4 Romany, 1/4 Irish and half English in reality.

You'll be happy this year and expecting an Alonso win then?

Actually I much prefer Massa. I'd love him to return from his injury and win the championship, it would be fairytale stuff. Alonso is supremely talented though. I'm also very excited (although he races for another team) to see Nico Hulkenberg racing this year. I met him a couple of years ago when he was racing in a different formula and he came across as a really nice guy. I hope he does well too. Its nice when you've met someone, you can root for them with that memory in mind.

How torn are you over Schumie? I just can't bring myself to cheer on Alonso and fear his deal will have shafted Massa again :(

Yes he's tipped for great things.

2 drivers are from within 20 miles of me which is quite strange for such a high profile worldwide sport when i live in a rural area.

Alan McNish who i have met and spoken to a few times before he hit the heights and David Coulthard.

They both did carting when they were kids.

Truthfully, I'm very torn over Schumi. Not just because he's back in F1, but he's back in F1 with Ross Brawn, a man who truly deserves his OBE for bringing his team from the brink of a closure to a world championship.

As for Alonso, I can appreciate him as a talented driver, but that's it. I never cheered Raikkonen either and am very fickle about who I like to see in red. I hope that Massa doesn't end up a thankless number two in the same way as Barichello (who I also really like btw). However more than anything else, I hope we see good racing, as the first one in Bahrain was a bit of an anti-climax.

Are you a big fan too Morag?

It's weird seeing Alonso in a Ferrari and Schu in a Merc :D

Huge. Started watching in 1976 then took a break from 1985 when the kids got in the way, found my way back in late 1996 and have missed only one race since then! Actually got to Silverstone in 1999 - the year Schu broke his leg and Eddie was robbed!

I'm with viva, the Ross Brawn/MS combination is special, but I'm no Merc fan! Also agree that last Sunday was very disappointing on just about every level.

So.... for me, car = Ferrari, Team = Ross Brawn and drivers = Schumi, Massa and Vettel.

You started watching about the same time as I did morag. I was so sad when just after Ronnie Petersen died. I loved Gilles Villeneuve too, and Senna was special even though he wasn't a Ferrari driver. I'm glad its a safer sport now, but I do miss the closeness of the sport back then, from the spectators near the track through to the flag guy standing on the track and waving the winner over the line a la Indy.

Your preferences are almost exactly the same as mine. I even like Vettel.

Are you going to any races this year?
