Oh. Well, ok, if you want to varnish it, head down to ye local art store, and ask their advice. I think http://www.londongraphics.co.uk/acatalog/Aerosol_Varnishes.html (the matt finish) would probably work. However, I have never varnished popcorn.

p.s. why are you varnishing popcorn?

Tomterm, you are rapidly becoming someone I rely on for answers. I love that in the nice people posse between us we know or can find the answer to...pretty much everything.
OK, when I was a little girl I spent an amazing Christmas in the US, where the trees were dressed with popcorn chains (not that uncommon over there but that Christmas is totally ''popcorn'' for me and has some lovely memories connected with it) but popcorn wouldn't last five seconds here with the dogs and cats (one of the cats is a fiend for pop corn). So what I thought was, is I varnished it I might be able to get it to last through the weather on a wreath, out of harms way. I don't really want to buy much Christmas stuff but have some corn to pop and could buy some varnish.

I'm feeling quite nostalgic this year, for things that aren't terribly British. e.g. I'm kind of hankering after thanksgiving too, maybe its just this week I'm feeling it because of the date...I'm going to roast a chicken and do sweet potato and marshmallow and a pie at the weekend. I guess maybe I feel ''anchored'' here now I'm missing other countries that created me. I'm not usually terribly nostalgic for US though, other places, but not there. I'm just rolling with it.

Depends on the quality. I picked one up at a petrol station and it was useless. Bought a set recently from Tesco when they were half price (17.50 instead of 35) and they work well. Bright enough to be seen from the house. In winter they last for a shorter time than Summer.

I can try and take a photo if you want.

They were meant to outline the rose arch in the Summer rather than as Xmas lights, but I haven't bothered taking them down.

If they do both jobs why bother taking them down! :) How long do the lights last after dark fall silvercar? Would love a picture but only if its ''safe'' and doesn't give you away to anyone :)

I've been looking at buying quiz questions for when family comes over at Christmas. I note that trivial pursuit has a new 2010 set out, £35 for 2000 questions and the board. However, I'm not too interested in the board and dice e.t.c. (have previous genus editions) I simply want card questions for people to ask one-another.

Does anyone of you nice people know where I can find a good set of quiz questions?

(ATM, I'm leaning toward buying the trivial pursuit pack.)

    Thank you.

I always thought you could buy Trivial Pursuit cards separately for this purpose? what a swizz if you have to buy the board each time!

Put on the spot I couldn't think of 3 people to dine with .... or why. I'd probably say something really stupid like: David Cassidy, Donny Osmond and Marc Bolan - because they're hot :)

I saw him in concert last year Pastures. He's still not bad!

They sold some packs a while ago (we're both showing our age here :)), which could be bought separately. Of late, they've opted for strange layout (or electronic) boards with small accompanying packs of cards (a cynic would say they're all marketing and no substance). I have some of the old separate card packs, however many of the questions are now out of date (and somewhat familiar).

Some courses have always had tutors. My father taught a course in sociology for over a decade. Other courses don't.

This is where I find out I was taught sociology by tomterm8's dad...

I would prefer to work in McDonalds than own a B&B. It's horrible.

I have rels who run a B&B. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes and lit matches under my fingernails.

I haven't played TP for years :) We don't have a single board game I don't think, but I'm pretty sure my parents have my old TP and monopoly sets. I should ask.
