It seems the job I went for won't be mine because they think that I'd leave at the drop of a hat.0

Well you were too good for them anyway - best not to be tied in to a job that is below you through a false sense of loyalty and be free to seize the better opportunities as they come along.PasturesNew wrote: »It seems the job I went for won't be mine because they think that I'd leave at the drop of a hat.I think....0

Pay was p155 poor anyway.0 -
Anyone else found the board really boring today - may be the house price indicies tomorrow will give us some more direction to the discussion although they normally just turn in to a slanging (slagging?)
Yes, lol, I find that recent threads have turned into a bit of a Big Brother-like task of.. 'Ignore the Obvious'.. just spend 2 pages having personal digs rather than answer the question very tedious.
Kind of like my hubby when he steps over all sorts of crap left lying in the house completely ignoring the hoover.. in order to spend 20 mins 'sweeping' out the garage with a BROOM ??? Then gets annoyed with ME when I dare to point out the half a box of cereal spilt on the floor this morning..
How's that for DEEEEP lol..Employers only really want monkeys, people that'll do the job just about and plod along for years.
And ain't that the truth !It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
I wonder what the 'Daisy Meadows' actually earn - not very much I suspect.
One of my friends is married to a children's author and says that unless you're absolutely at the top of the pile: for example JK Rowling or Jacqueline Wilson who has TV tie ins via the Tracy Beaker series, you don't earn very much. But to be fair, the Daisy Meadows authors are top childrens authors. Narinder Dhami, as I mentioned was behind Bend it Like Beckham; Linda Chapman is the author behind the My Secret Unicorn series of books; Sue Bentley is behind a whole bunch of books about puppies and kittens, and Sue Mongredien has written over 100 children's books including the Oliver Moon series. None of them are slouches. I'm told because it is a steady and successful series you can earn reasonably from it.
I've heard the same about Mills and Boon too, that they are actually quite a good way for a struggling new author to get published, though AIUI they take the rights to the stories. A good way to get a first book published, though very formulaic. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Still I am hoping Nationwide YoY is close to my 12 months ago prediction (guess) of 5.5%!

I'm thinking the main board has been very quiet this summer. Not a lot happening, a few regular posters away from the boards (Inspector Monkfish used to post 846789754567 new posts every day...)
It is fairly stagnant, with a fair bit of uncertainty/lack of security out there, & the governments spending review due in October. It'll heat up then.
I think that currently the alleged HPI "rampers" and the alleged HPC-ers appear to just be name calling a bit at the mo.
Unfortunately, if anyone else tries to put a POV across they get labelled a ramper or crasher...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I don't look at this board to get a flavour of what's going on, I look at the other one.
Some people over there are getting very touchy, which is a sure sign that things aren't rosy in seller-land. Masses of property on the market and few FTBs has led to frustration for many. The onset of autumn and the details on cuts will depress things further, and talk of a spring bounce may not work well on those who've already heard:
bad weather,
ash clouds,
the Election,
the summer holidays etc
as excuses for being in a seller's limbo.
I see a re-run of late 2008 for most.0 -
I agree but not what this thread is for discussing!
What should I plant in my pots for the winter?I don't look at this board to get a flavour of what's going on, I look at the other one.

Winter pansies. Or be really money saving and just use decorative stones (then save them for next year.)I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Having looked on the House buying, renting and selling forum a lot seem to be on there.
Seems like they get a better audience for pushing their positions, some of it can be quiet entertaining having seen what they have wrote on this board before.0
