If you are after practical info why not PM nickmason? He's very friendly
Now, I know I'm hardly brain of Britain, but, honestly...
Nah, TBF they were nice enough, but just made me realise it really is an any man (woman?!) game, so perhaps more of the debaters would be better off putting their energies into RL matters instead of MSE
I couldn't possibly of course, I'm way too lazy :AWe cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses. Carl Jung

It is an any man/woman game

I'd love to - don't have the time, currently, but would definitely seriously consider it when kids are older. As I've got older, I've come to realise that if you don't do stuff that needs doing, it might just never happen, because everyone else is sitting round waiting for someone else to do it, or it just has never occurred to them.
On the downside, I'm far too independent to work well within the party system - as you may have noticed, I don't take well to being told what to do.
As a student, I joined the Labour club, but stopped going when they introduced positive discrimination for women (something I was very against then, although funnily enough something I've totally changed my mind about since and now strongly favour). I turned up at the meeting to speak against it dressed like a right tart - it was Halloween and I'd been at a party so turned up dressed like something out of Rocky Horror! I'm not sure they'd have let me in after that. :rotfl:
The UO Labour club did give me my greatest opportunity to date to change major world political events - we went on a tour of the Houses of Parliament and met the then Speaker. I shook hands with him, despite having a streaming cold. He then told us he was off to meet all the European heads of state on the following day.
I like to think my cold influenced judgements at the highest level in the following week or so.0 -
I dunno, all jokes aside, I think it would be interesting. I spend a lot of time moaning about stuff, so it would make more sense to actually try do something about it. I think I'm probaby best suited to joining the liberals though
ETA: carol, I think originally I would have been a good labour member.. I just don't like them anymore though... & don't like tories.... hmmm, do they still do loony?!We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses. Carl Jung

yeah, you might get your planning through0 -
Go for it sjay!
We'll campaign for you!
I think Liberals speak lots of sense ATM (well, more than they do usually, anyway). Esp St Vince, who I'd almost fancy if he wasn't over 60 and bald.0 -

They do the respect party. You'd quite like them0 -
I think both of you should go for it.
If more honest people with a genuine desire to do the right thing just stood up for what they believed in we wouldn't be in the hole we are in now.
I think you can and could make a massive difference at a local level.
You lift the local paper and it's talk, talk, talk. We are going to do this, we are going to help these people........
All soundbite, no action.
You pair certainly wouldn't beRetail is the only therapy that works0 -
sjay, maybe you'd be an independent? There have been some really interesting links here over the years to identify one's political lean. I'm moderately libertarian, it turns out.0

How about you, wageslave? Given your fab action over the last week involving rolling Easter eggs etc.?
Clearly action is your forte.
Also clear from this little microcosm of the world, that if women were in charge, there'd be much less bickering, far more would get done, and we'd all wear better shoes.
Plus chocolate would be free on the NHS.0
