We had this problem when DD was just 1 year old - EVERYTHING in the fridge went off within a day or so of it being put in there (built in fridge that came with the house), unfortunately it happened right around DD's birthday so I had to go out the day of the party and buy fridge stuff. We ended up going and buying a brand new fridge-freezer on credit  Works like a charm now though, save a few strange noises since we moved ;)

Just a reminder that in MSE fashion you don't throw away that 'gone off' milk - but make cream cheese from it!

    How?

Allow milk to seperate fully (leave in window for the day and a clear liquid separates to the top), then strain through muslin, (or Bounty kitchen towel) over a bowl. This I usually do overnight in the fridge. A lot of clear liquid will drain away. You are left with a cheese texture a little like mascapone.

Mix the cheese with salt, pepper, garlic, herbs to taste and eat within a day or two.

    Worth doing I promise.

Ive had problems with mince beef going off quickly.I would mostly blame it on journey home in the ridiculous heatwave we have at moment, even hotter in a car boot if you think about it.Other option is to buy longlife should last a little longer.

    Hi
I have a problem with minced beef going off too. I hadn't thought that it might be the way they are treating it in store - it is only Asda mince that goes off pork mince was off today even though still in sell by date and we have a brand new fridge.

I am really annoyed guys  I always shop at Asda and buy my milk from there every week (usually about 6 pints) and it just keeps going off! In the last few months every single bottle I have brought has gone off before its use by date, and its not my fridge because my Mum and Aunt who shop with me have had the same problem.

I have emailed asda about this and they have not contacted me back. This morning I put milk into my boyfriends flask and it has gone off...its use by date? 11th September  I have just emailed them again.

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just us 3?

How many days is the milk open for? I'm sure that there is a note on the side saying something like the use by date is a few days after you open the bottle.

Other than that I can't help I'm afraid, DD is a milk fiend/magician, who seems to make milk disappear into thin air....!
