Hotel Jupiter, Alcudia - Any one been???

Hi
Looking for advise. Just been to the Travel Agents for next years holiday - was looking at the Hotel Jupiter as I have a 2 year and 6 year old and think that we all might enjoy it - the price wasn't bad either.

the only thing is that I have come home and googled it and it has got some really bad reviews - has anyone been - what did you think to it????

Thanks in advance

I always check tripadvisor before booking anywhere....

Went to Alcudia when I was young and stayed at the Bellevue Hotel - what a nasty, nasty place. We were all violently ill and the place was filthy. It was a few years ago so it might have improved but it has kind of put me off Alcudia......

    Hope this helps.

We went to the Saturno which is the sister hotel to the Jupiter and is next door on the same site, back in 2000. We too, were offered a good deal by the travel agent and as it was our first holiday with a child decided to go somewhere child friendly.

We arrived in the middle of a rain storm and the reception area was packed with 100s of drunken adults and wild children, we should have turned round then!

The food isn't too bad, the accommodation isn't too bad, the people staying there were awful. The site is "out of town", so is a good 30 minute (from memory) walk to the beach or Alcudia town centre.

Our neighbours kept us up til 4 am regularly rowing and slamming doors, basically it seemed most people there wanted to drink as much as possible and let their kids run riot.

I'm not a snob, but for us, if you want a nice family holiday, avoid it like the plague.

Thats exactly what I want - a nice family holiday, we have had holidays in this country since we had the kids so fancied somewhere abroad thats not too expensive. Think tha I might give it a miss.

We went in the Easter holidays one year. It was a cheap allocation on arrival deal, so we didn't know where we were staying till we got to Majorca!

Overall it's a big complex with plenty pools and activities to keep the children entertained. However it did rain one day and there is nothing to do indoors. I ended up running a mini-creche in the bar area, as my sons took a couple of travel games and card games to play, and loads of other children joined in!

The walls are paper thin, so you hear everything. We were in the Marte, which is another accomodation building on the site. The entertainment goes on until midnight, and even though we were on the top floor, you could still hear it blasting out and make out every word the man on the microphone said. No chance of an early night!

There were queues to get in every meal. Some meals were horrendous as there was not enough chairs/plates/cutlery etc to go round. You'd leave the table to get your food, come back and someone had swiped your chair or cutlery, or even worse, claimed your table. We always had to leave someone at the table, and go up and get food in "shifts".

They were slow at replenishing dishes on the buffet, so often there was little choice.

To get a decent seat for the evening entertainment, you had to be first in line for dinner, scoff it down as quick as you could then dash over to the entertaiment area. If you wanted to eat at a leisurely pace, you didn't get a seat for the entertainment. The queues at the bars on a night were horrendous too.

It was a 30 min walk to the main resort area of Alcudia and the beach, although a courtesy bus ran to the beach and back during the day. There was a man-made decorative canal system in the residential streets near the hotel, and a natural lake nearby. There were tons of mosquitoes so we got bitten a lot.

We were there early season and the hotel was only about half full. I can imagine the queues for meals, drinks etc., being a lot worse in high season when the hotel is full.

We booked last minute and got a very cheap deal. I would have been very disappointed if I had paid the full brochure price to go to this hotel, as it's very expensive.

Have you looked at Menorca? That's very family friendly. There's no high rise blocks or nightclubs, so you don't get the "yobs abroad" groups travelling there. There's loads of nice sandy beaches for the children to play on, and the Menorcans all love children and really spoil them.
Here I go again on my own....

I stayed there about six years ago in June - it was the first all inclusive we'd been to-quite impressed, clean, food was really nice, entertainment was good and most of all no queus for anything. It must have really gone down if it is as bad as everyone says cos we had a really good time. Must agree though the beach is about twenty mins walk away. Waterpark is just outside tho (not one of the best Ive been to).

Hi Think about staying at the Sea Club apartments - you can do either self catering or part board. We did the sc a couple of years ago and it was brilliant, beautifully clean both in the apartments and outside/pool area. Saw the Saturn and jupiter looked awful to me - great high rise blocks!
