Hello
I have a motorbike for sale on an Ebay classified ad for £5250. Someone has offered £5000 but wants to pay with Paypal. he seems like a proper Ebayer looking at his account but it does not seem right to me and I am not keen on the deal, (chargebacks, stolen credit card etc) Maybe he just wants to use a credit card to buy the bike? has anyone ever accepted such a large sum via paypal?
thanks

personally I wouldn't. maybe sad you'd take a £100 deposit via paypal but you should ask for the rest in cash0

No No a thousand times no.
How an earth are you going to post it to him to satisy the paypal requirement for a tarcked online proof of delivery?
Cars and vehicles are exempt from the paypal requirement even on ebay, for a very good reason.
If he needs to buy on credit then maybe this sale is not for him, he can go to a shop and let them take the risks or else pay to withdraw the balance himself and pay you cash.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No don't accept it. If they pay you via paypal and take the bike you will be unable to prove delivery so if they opened an Item not received you would lose so they would be refunded and have the bike.

Thanks, I did think it was dodgy, I will tell him to withdraw the cash, to be honest I think he may be a timewaster as the offer was too close to what I wanted!0

No!!! Definately avoid that, they might be a genuine ebayer but the paypal fees would be crazily expensive!! Just get a deposit then the rest cash!
Hope that helps!

Can you not get him to send the payment as a gift? I thought a gift payment was exempt from the usual paypal regs and also he would pay the fees instead of you.0

Do what Brave Sir Robin did, run away. Never accept paypal on cars/bikes etc, soooo many scammers out there who love it when people accept paypal on things like this0 -

That was my first thought, the fees would be massive. Just email the buyer telling them due to paypal fees and your security you can't accept paypal as a method of buying.0
