From the Midlands Co-op website:
"Although we trade principally in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and the Greater Midlands, we also have trading outlets in Herefordshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire! At the time of publication we have over 400 trading outlets, ranging from superstores to convenience stores, supermarkets, department stores, travel shops, funeral homes, garages, post offices and petrol stations."
Having to have two memberships and therefore two cards does tend to dilute the benefits somewhat. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I didn't know you could get your divvi paid into the bank. We've always had vouchers sent to us.
OP, when you join there is an option to have your "odd pence" donated to their charity fund when it's time for them to give you your divvi. Be aware that odd pence includes any amount up to £1 - so if your divvi comes to £4.98 they will give you £4 and put the 98p into the charity pot. It's a long time since I became a member so I can't remember if donating is the default or not. Make sure you tick the option you prefer. The Mid Counties Co-op takes the yellow Co-op Membership card along with those stores owned by the Co-operative Group. So you may be OK

Confusing I agree but it is all tied up in the history of the Co-op movement. The Co-operative Group has its origins as the Co-operative Wholesale Society which was a buying & manufacturing business supplying various independent, regional retail co-ops. As the co-op movement went into decline in the 60s & 70s, the CWS rescued a number of these & so built up a regional retail presence. Hence, most co-op food stores are now part of the Co-operative Group, although there are still a number of regional co-ops in business, almost all of which carry co-op own brand goods but may not be part of the membership scheme. Gradually, however, most of these independent societies are joining the main membership scheme, not least because of the confusion & bad customer experience which results.
I love it because employees get a 10% discount with their cards :TEthical moneysaver0 -
It could be different areas, or you could just be confused. The option to be paid by cheque has stopped but the paper vouchers (yellow with a picture of a bee) are continuing.I thought the vouchers stopped?
I may be wrong but last year I had a letter saying I had to be paid into my bank account. Different regions different rules maybe?Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Just a quick bit of info for the people that are member's of Midlands Coop and those that are member's of other coop's try handing your card over. Midlands now take the honeycomb card ( infact you should have had a new one through ) you can also use your card in the stores that you usually use the honeycomb card in - i think that they are slowly trying to get it so that it's one scheme.
P.S i work for Midlands coop

Hi,
I am in the Midlands Co-op area as well. From what I can gather from reading the two sets of T&Cs, members of "The Co-operative" - the one that owns the bank, pharmacies, etc. can earn points at Midlands Co-op shops - as these now display the "honeycomb" logo, but not vice versa - members of Midlands Co-op do not earn points on Co-op bank accounts etc. I did ask the Midlands co-op to confirm this but no response.0 -
You can only earn points and use the card when shopping in 'Manchester Co-ops' the Co-ops with the green fascia which also recently purchased Somerfield. There are thousands of these stores throughout the UK.
Midlands Co-op is an indepentdent coop. I am a manager for Scottish Midland Co-op Society again another independent coop. You can not use the card in independent Co-ops (there are several throughout the UK).
Hope this helps.

I'm a member of the Co-Op membership scheme through Britannia building society, this year they sent me £24 of voucher to spend in any Co-Op store, but my missus (ex-employee) reckons that you can cash the vouchers in without buying anything, winner.Whoa!
