  • why is everyone so mean on this thread? maybe if you don't agree with something you should try to resist pressing that reply button and just go about your day... did your mothers not ever teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all?

I notice you have given any advice at all to the OP, which makes your post perhaps the most pointless of all the replies thus far..

The whole point of a forum is to post questions and receive advice. It would be a truly sad and worthless place if all the replies were full of cuddles and support.

Ask for advice and get just that, views and opinions differ, giving a wider audience access to the problem and you attract both sides of the argument.

Nobody is trying to start a fight with anyone else, just voicing opinions.

The overall trend in the advice offered is that the OP is making a mistake and may well regret this mistake for the next 6 YEARS due to a trashed credit rating.... all for the stubborn "principle".

The GOOD (and best) advice in this thread is to protect the OP's Credit Rating for the princely sum of fifty quid whilst investigating this further.

It is in the OP's best interest.

Sometimes people need a good slap with reality to make them understand, not everyone will change with a cuddle.

CHR15 - spot on mate. Couldn't agree more.

Like I said, for £50 its bonkers - no other word for it than bonkers!

Heyup bank, I ruined my credit rating cos of a £50 *principle* - will you give me a mortgage? I know the answer! lol

Ahhh the old wescot saps!! :rotfl:

Ive had that bunch of mugs trying to get me to pay some creditcards back for nearly 2years now!

Then follow structured processes and stop them asking for money! At the end of the day you'll have a default - the OP, we assume does not. For £50 a default is ridiculous.
Just write back asking them for their last 3 addresses, full name, date of birth, their bank details, and their mum's maiden name. :D

Demmand that they send you proof of 1stly that they legally are requesting the money for o2,
and then 2ndly of proof that you owe that money.

If they don't provide those 2 things then just tell write back to them saying ''thankyou for your letter, unfortunately i will have to decline your request for my money and personal details due to you failing to show evidence that you are representing o2,
and that i owe an enforceable debt of £50''.

I absolutely disagree with this nonsense. What a load of old bollox :rotfl::rotfl:
And then just ignore any calls or letters from them until they provide those 2 things.

Do this and get a default - wise move - NOT?:cool::cool:

send them a prove it letter:

    Dear Sirs,

    Account No:

You have contacted me regarding the account with the above reference number, which you claim is owed. I would like to point out that we have no knowledge of any such debt being owed to you.

The ‘Office of Fair Trading Debt Collection Guidance’ states that it is unfair to send demands for payment to an individual when it is uncertain that they are the debtor in question. They also state that it is unfair to pursue third parties for payment when they are not liable. In not ceasing collection activity whilst investigating a reasonably queried or disputed debt you are using deceptive and/or unfair methods.

Ignoring and/or disregarding claims that debts have been settled or are disputed and continuing to make unjustified demands for payment, amounts to physical and psychological harassment.

In light of the above, I formally request that no further contact be made concerning the above accounts unless you can provide evidence as to my liability for the debt in question.

I await your written confirmation that this matter is now closed, within the next 14 days.

    Yours faithfully

LOL - are you for real?

That letter is one of mine and Wayne is someone i'm helping in several areas. I suggest you do NOT send the letter - but you think you know best? :rotfl:

Ok, good luck! I think you'll find you're making a huge mistake - if you want to ignore the advice I give you then go for it ;););)

Maybe you ought to look at the link below - then decide whether I know what i'm on about before you go head first into looking like a c0ck!
