Madasafish in Breach of Contract - advice needed

In June 2009 I agreed a new 12-month deal with Madasafish: 20GB broadband allowance and the line rental for £23 per month.

Last month they bumped up my monthly bill to over £25 and when I complained they lied to me by claiming it was due to the VAT increase, which would only account for about 65p. Their own invoices clearly show price increases in both services. I have pointed this out to them but they are currently not answering my emails.

To me this is a clear breach of contract as they are not abiding by the terms we agreed between ourselves last year. Although they are now taking money from my account that they are not entitled to (stealing, according to my dictionary), I cannot stop paying them. If I did I would then be in breach of contract and Madasafish would then be able to attack me with debt-collectors etc.

The law is so one-sided in these matters - these large companies can do what they want and us victims have so little recourse. I want to resolve this with Madasafish but, as I said, they firstly patronised me and now they are ignoring me, so I must use other means.

All I can think of at the moment is to report them to Trading Standards, which is something I have done with success against other companies before. This is a fairly long-winded process though so I wondered if anyone can suggest other means that would force these rapacious so-and-so's to abide by the law.

Suggest you post your query on the dedicated Madasafish section* of this forum:

That forum is monitored by MAAF/Plusnet reps so you'll probably get a more positive response there.

Thanks Joe, I'll investigate that one. My experience of MAAF recently though indicates that they are not interested in resolving my complaints, they merely want to take my money.

I would still be interested in any suggestions for more forceful means to make MAAF abide by the terms we agreed last year.

I would phone up MAAF and get the matter dealt with there rather than relying on the ticketing system.

I think you'll find that your issues will get resolved pretty quickly if my own experiences are anything to go by.

Also whilst you are on the phone, why not ask them for a better deal for when your contract ends.

Thanks Frankie, I might do that, but it wouldn't be with confidence that I would get my problems solved. I always like to get things in writing as well so that if it does get legal some way down the line I have evidence to produce, rather than my word against theirs.

I understand your concerns. However, they did confirm my new contract via a ticket which stays on your account. So in writing of sorts!
  • I see others have had problems with maaf. I'm just about demented with them. They were fine for a couple of years until my contract ran out in October 09. Since then, they have constantly charged me well over the agreed amount even though I am always on the phone to them. They also double charge me each month and then cut me off or block my internet. I lost it for three weeks completely a while ago. The customer service is rubbish. No one does anything to help.

Anyone know what to do about this??? They're driving me insane with frustration. They NEVER do anything about it.
