Unfair bank fees cause debt

You've come this far, and have very little to loose, so it's worth putting in one last complaint. Highlight any delay they have caused due to incorrectly associating the complaint with the Test Case. Make sure you follow the 8 week time frame, and then escalate to the FOS for final review. IMO you're not going to get anywhere with this, but you may get a bit of goodwill due to the manner in which the complaint has been handled.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
What evidence do A&L have to suggest that you did use the account?0

Isn't this irrelevant. OP has no proof that a request to close the account was sent in May 07. It's OP's word against bank's word.0 -
Its relevant if entries have been processed to the account.0

A/L Do not have any evidence suggesting I used the account.(as far as I am aware).
This is because the account has NEVER been used since I first (at least attempted) closed it.
All the debt is caused by A/L taking money out of the account.
Surly, if they are not actually out of pocket (ie I havn't had the money) then they should be able to dismiss the debt they caused?0 -
So you have received no statements at all since the ''closure'' of the account but you did before?0

The Premier Direct account is operated online only (no paper statements).
The OP stated that he did not have online access due to not having the correct log in details.0 -
Sorry must have missed that bit - call me cynical but when the account was open he had no trouble accessing the account but since it was allegedly closed he can't?:DThe Premier Direct account is operated online only (no paper statements).

Were you overdrawn when you tried to close the account? If not, I can't see how them not closing the account anyway when it has a nil balance can lead to them charging the account? What have I missed?0

Under funding fees which would have taken the account overdrawn which would have triggered interest and unplanned overdraft fees etc etc.kelloggs36 wrote: »Were you overdrawn when you tried to close the account?
