Hello - can anyone please help...my 12 month contract with Carphone Warehouse expires on 28 April and I do not wish to renew it (thank god!) - tried searching on their (difficult-to-find-information) website and there is nothing pointing me in the direction of what I need to do; say; write; contact etc about not renewing my contract. I have read other threads on here about Carphone and I get the distinct impression that this aint going to be easy!
Advice and help would be warmly received

When you say your contract is with CPW do you mean CPW O2 (your network is O2 but your bills say CPW) or do you mean it is on another network but you got it from CPW?
If it is with CPW O2 you need to write to the following address about 30 days before the 12months is up to give notice of cancellation:
Disconnections
Carphone Warehouse
PO BOX 345
Unit 19
Southampton
SO30 2NR
If your contract is on another network you need to contact your network provider (again about 30 days before 12months is up) to give notice of cancellation.
With either of the above, if you wish to take your number to a new network you will need to request your PAC. The PAC will be valid for 30days and is given to your new network. If the PAC is not used your contract will not cancel and you will be placed on a rolling contract, which will keep going until you give notice of cancellation again.0 -
What are you actually wanting to do? Move to a new provider?
Move to PAYG?
Why not just do a simple port (request your PAC and give it to the new supplier).
This effectively cancel's your contract.0 -
Hello thank you for this - yes with 02 via CPW - just want shot of the company..now wishing to go Pay-as-you-go with a new number...
In theory this should be straight-forward, but from what I have read about CPW and losing customers - I dont think they are going to make this easy!0 -
Should be simple enough provided you write to them. Once you have your PAC you just need to call your new provider, give them the PAC and two working days later you'll be up and running.
Forgot to say in my last post that it would probably be worth your while sending the letter "signed for" (think thats what recorded delivery is called these days) that way you have proof of delivery if there are any problems.

I'm in the process of doing the same. My contract's up 12/03. I rang on 01/02 (couldn't remember exact date so rang early) to request PAC. They do not give PAC by phone request like everyone else (trying to make it difficult no doubt), instead they give a code that you must state on the letter, then they text and write confirming PAC.
They gave me the pac early, with validity till 12/03, but as I'm paying rental I may as well post as late as poss, so I'll do it around the 7th (port takes a few days). I sent a letter normal post as I was struggling to get to the PO, and I got the PAC the next day. The plan was to send recorded a few days later if no PAC received, but that wasn't necessary so I saved the 75p!0 -

You don't even need a PAC for this (PAC is for transferring a phone number between networks) - if you are really not bothered about keeping your number just call up when you're in the last month of your contract and cancel it.0 -
Calling up is NOT the way to do it. Write to the Southampton address and if you don't want a PAC code don't wait until 30 days before; do it at 60 telling them the date it should end.0
