Hi,

Im currently with Orange (joke of a mobile phone company) and want to leave them when my contract is up.

Who is currently running the show on the best network provider? I like the magic number feature on Orange, but this isnt the be all and end all.

Thanks!

Unless you want to be an unhappy MSE member, then the best one is the one that gets you best reception where you need it most.

You may find a couple that are better than others. I usually find the split is Orange/T-Mobile on one hand and O2/Voda on the other as they work on 2 different frequencies.

I have Voda and Orange. Most places, particularly in my house, Voda are better but I have had brilliant service from Orange CS and not so good from Voda.

The most important thing is to test out reception at your home and other favourite places. Get friends with different networks to see what their reception is like there.

Personally, I get a very basic phone (bought my own for £60 and keep the free one as a spare), 400 minutes, loads of texts, free landline calls, free mobile and home internet and Orange Wednesdays all for less than £10 per month from Orange, with good CS as well. Can't complain at that.

I'm with o2 and there's only a couple of places I don't get a signal (so far), my certain parts of my hometown in the highlands and a supermarket in Edinburgh. It could however be attributed to the massive amounts of Electronic interference being pumped out by nearby sources :D

Vodafone are useless in my hometown as are T-mobile (although may change with the orange merger)

You can do as posted above (buy a basic phone) then go simplicity with o2, I pay £30 a month, get 1200mins, unlim txt, unlim web, and the odd occasion they send out free gifts (there's a chocolate bar with my name on it at my parents).

CS is generally ok, haven't had a bad one yet to be fair! New tariffs aren't the best (in my opinion).

But all comes down to what your looking for
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!

I'm glad that you get good CS from Orange, as I do not.
I've been with them for nearly 11 years and I get treated very poorly indeed!

How do you manage to get such a good deal on your contract? The deal you have is costing me £25 a month!

I get poor reception in any building with Orange for some reason on both of my phones (incidentally, both are Samsung's).

Reason I want to change is that they have barred my phones even though i have no outstanding payments (paid my bill early in fact) and have unbarred one phone, but not the other (which is more important as its the one my gf uses).

Over the last 8 years I've had several contracts withe each company if I include my 2 daughters) probably 15 contracts
I've found Vodaphone is best coverage but appalling customer service; O2 second best coverage but best customer service Orange cust service is pretty good but GF had a bad experience with them ( I seemed to have a different cust service no might depend on contract) 3 are cheap but poor coverage T mobile cheap, coverage OK but but v poor cust service

As pointed out coverage is most important check friends and get a free PAYG SIM to try out the coverage. If cust service is highest priority then I'd go O2 a go but to be honest I've always found orange cust service OK just crap signal in my house

Don't they make you pay for the credit? I'm trying to get rid of my 3 contract and thinking of going to Orange, but as luck would have it in my family we have o2, vodafone, t-mobile but nobody has orange!!

Thanks for the above post from Voda ... its a pity your telephone customer support isn't as prompt. I use O2 for my personal mobile and Voda for business.

Customer service from O2 has always been excellent and even when they do get it wrong it gets sorted. Voda ...... never ever again total nightmare every time !!
