The phone is a Tri-Band, it works on the EGSM 900, 1800 and 1900 frequencies so it should be able to accept any sim card for any UK network including 3, tell him to try his sim card in a friends phone on the same network provider as the sim in case the sim is faulty.

Although it is highly unlikely a network update might have resulted in the phone being re-locked, you can unlock it again for free using the link below.

I asked this previously but you never answered the question did you take note of the phones IMEI number?, if you haven't it might be a good idea to try and call their bluff by asking them to provide you with a note of the phones IMEI number to compare to your records, if the buyer thinks you have a note of it then it may put them off trying to return a different phone.

With regards to his feedback do not go by the 100% read the individual comments that he has received and left for others to get a picture of how transactions went, for example if he was given a refund by someone he might make a comment about this whilst still leaving them positive feedback, you won't know this unless you read each comment.

3 simcards have a lock that they are only usable in 3 phones. It is possible to work around this but not always straightforward. If you google there are quite a few people who have had this problem with 3
  • There are problems getting orange phones unlocked too, I'm stuck with a phone that I can't use :(

Apologies DPG I did not take a note of the IMEI number, I did not know where it was; but I did take a lot of photos of the phone working and detailed photos of the case/scratches etc.

I have stated in my email to him that we have noted the IMEI number when we were clearing the data from the phone & photographing the condition of the casing etc prior to sending the phone to him.

Hopefully this will be the end, if not I will email the link that you have kindly provided. Will also have another look at his feedback.

Okay I have just had a look at the 3 website and the newer 3G sim cards as you say cyberbob do not work on Nokia 6111.

If the OP did not state in their listing that the phone was 3G compatible then they should be covered against a claim for a refund.

If the buyer is unhappy frankly tough, although to placate them I would suggest to them that they change networks and get a PAC number from 3 so that they can transfer the old mobile number on to their new sim card, which is normally free.

DPG I did not state that the phone was 3g compatible in my listing, I only stated used with scratches on the reverse of the casing as you would expect from use.

Checked his feedback and has left 2 negs without even contacting the sellers!!

Well it looks like you have a problem buyer on your hands, I am just guessing here but were the other items they bought phones?, possibly even the same model?

I should have said this previously but make sure that all communications with the buyer is done through eBay and not directly by email so that you have a complete record of what has been said, this can come in handy if you have to dispute what they say, since e-mails are private eBay only have your word against theirs.

No it would appear the wife buys clothes and then queries the sizes and complains that an item is stretched, also picky about combined postage discount.

Yes all communication has been sent via ebay messages.

I have sold some unlocked nokias on ebay. They tend to work with most of the major networks such as Orange and O2 but for some reason they never work with a 3G sim card.

I now sell the phones with the disclaimer, unlocked but untested on 3G network.

Thanks for all the input guys, have been out today & come back to positive feedback and a message which states that there was a problem and it needed a new clasp.
